Job Purpose
As a Senior Firewall Engineer, in the Operational Services team you will provide technical security assistance to business, particularly with regards to Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and other networking devices.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities Engagement:
- Partner with relevant stakeholders to maintain and improve the security posture of business, GIS and Group IT.
- Build and sustain strong deep working relationships that have a direct influence on the success of the Group Information Security Office.
- Develop appropriate measures to understand the effectiveness of securing the bank through the availability of systems.
Service Delivery:
- Demonstrate customer centricity and focus on providing value to the business.
- Translate business needs and requirements into technical requirements.
- Provides a consistently high quality customer query / problem resolution service by efficiently managing, maintaining and utilising all available resources (staff, systems, processes).
- Co-develop appropriate solutions with business and/or provide necessary recommendations and advice.
- Enable collaborative working, using a consistent approach to delivering projects to the business and ensuring that systems are available on a 99.99% metric.
- Manage the deployed Security Technical Infrastructure in accordance with the predefined Group Policy Standards.
- Conduct Research and provide advice on the implementations of new Security Technologies.
Mitigation of Risk:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the business, operational and risk environment.
- Conduct regular evaluations of potential threats and model the business risk landscape against the actual security exposures.
- Recommend security solutions; convince business of the need to implement within an agreed timeframe to mitigate against violations, threats and exposures.
- Manage, direct and monitor the implementation of the recommended solutions.
- Continuously report on status/ progress.
Reporting:
- Monitor and report on risks and vulnerabilities with suggested recommendations.
- Compile and submit M.I.S reports.
Preferred Qualification and Experience
- Experience in networking, expert knowledge on firewalls.
- UNIX advanced.
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent diploma preferable.
- In-depth knowledge of the IT and security field including TCP/IP, HTTP, encryption, network access controls, incident detection and prevention, and advanced Windows and Unix systems administration.
Experience:
- Applicable experience in penetration testing, understanding of routing and networks protocols.
- Proven ability in the vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, incident management, and software development lifecycles.
Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise
- Familiarity with multiple commercial and open-source web and network vulnerability assessment tools.
- Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) certification. It is preferable to have one of the following: CCSA, CCSE.
- Any other relevant Security certification from an accredited institution such as ISA.
- Demonstrate knowledge of standards associated with the role, e.g. ISO, CobiT, ITIL, etc.
