Job purpose:

Participating in the planning, development, maintenance, and enhancement of SAP applications. Customizing applications from the Intergrated Solution Design, Small Work Packages and Functional Specifications or RTB Incident to meet defined Business needs

A Configurator is accountable for:

• Business analysis and process redesign of SAP functions and processes
• Configure SAP functionality to satisfy business requirements and business process
design
Prepare business specifications for:

Component Level design
Technical Systems Speecifications
Data Design
Component Test Cases
Unit Test Case Design
Configure of the component design
Fully testing the component design / configure – before and after the application development

Plan & Organise:

Configuration as per program specification and agreed standards.
Prepare Unit Test Cases
Conduct Unit tesing and fixing the detected errors.
Develop Business Support documentation with agreed standards
Take part in reviews of own work

Acquire and Implement:

Document work done as per the standards followed in the bank
Formulate and define application scope and objectives and devise/modify procedures to solve business problems
Develop familiarity with production operations, as well as established priorities and sequences for processes
Develop business relationships and integrate activities with other IT areas to ensure successful implementation and support project efforts.

Deliver & Support:

Working alone or with colleagues on simple or medium complexity systems, produce outline business specifications from Intergrated Solution Design or Functional Specifications.
Configuration of reports, validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls, recovery routines and contingency procedures.
Working with developers, to configure appropriate tables and structures within design constraint.
Assist less experienced colleagues with difficult customisation problems.
Conduct reviews of supplied specifications as appropriate
Provide guidance and assistance to colleagues in any aspect of program component design, creation, testing and documentation.

Monitor and Evaluate:

Adhere to organisational standards and procedures
Adhere to project timelines and defect SLA
Configurator 2 additional responsibilities
Coaching of junior staff
QA work of junior staff
Identify ongoing efficiencies and cost saving initiatives
Ensure that all component design takes full account of specified requirements and constraints

Configurator 3 additional responsibilities:

Advise configuration staff on the evaluation and impact analysis of major design options
Advise, maintain and implement the organisations system development standards, methods and procedures.
Assist in the assessment and selection of suitable software packages to meet all or parts of specified requirements.
Take a leading Technical Role in development projects.

Internal and external relationships:

Primarily interacts with the Team Lead / Project Manager responsible for the Project / WR / RTB Fix on a regular basis.
Additional clarifications with the Enterprise Solution Designers and Technical Specialists.

Qualifications / Knowledge:

BCom Information Systems
BSc Computer Science or Information Systems
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Management Information Systems
Diploma in Information Systems
SAP Certification
Bank recognised computer programming course
ITIL Certification
Comprehensive understanding of SAP's customizing toolset, including IMG (Implementation Management Guide).
Strong knowledge of project management techniques and cross functional experience.
An understanding of programming concepts and experience with structured design, development, and implementation of new computing architectures.
