Role details:
Cape Town Northern Suburbs organization requires an Internal Auditor to be responsible for working across the Financial and Operations functions,
with the main responsibility to lead the Internal Audit functions for our stores, distribution centres and our Support Centre.
Honours Degree majoring in Accounting and Auditing, or a CA (SA);
3 years as an Internal Audit Manager within the retail industry, alternatively completion of articles of clerkship at a firm of public accountants/auditors with audit senior responsibility;
Direct and practical experience with store administration, cash management and stock take policies and procedures and financial reporting issues inherent in the retail industry;
Sound leadership and interpersonal skills;
Competence with the development and management of a specialist team;
Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) in English;
This position entails travelling to our stores and operational areas throughout the country (South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and Swaziland) and candidates for this position will therefore need to be willing to travel.
JOB DESCRIPTION:

The key results for the position will include leading the internal audit team, identifying and anticipating business risks, reporting on the operation of and deviations from internal control processes and controls, developing and updating audit and stock take programs, the development of exception management indicators and reporting, as well as the regular reporting of findings to executive management and the audit committee.
This will entail:-
Assessing and reporting on the adequate operations of business systems and procedures and make suitable recommendations.
Proactively identifying and reporting aspects regarding business risk and trends.
Communicating all new and amended policies and procedures to the business.
Assessing, reporting and benching the adherence of store operations to relevant laws and regulations
Developing, reviewing and assessing existing and proposed audit procedures and Company policies for improvement and to identify risk.
Advising on the adequacy of systems and procedures in order to support business operations.
Co-ordinating the risk management forum and liaising with the internal and external auditors (KPMG).
Ensuring optimal staffing to execute team strategy.
Building and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external clients.
Managing costs within the given budget.
ADDITIONAL:
The successful candidate will need to have a strong analytical and systems orientation, as well as a thorough grasp of financial accounting and internal audit principles as well as business and retail fundamentals;
She/he will need to demonstrate an extremely thorough understanding of all the administrative, cash and control procedures in a retail store and the bearing that these procedures have on the risk profile of a retail store, as well as the ability to recommend new operating procedures and administration guidelines;
He/she must be highly numerate, analytical, accurate and thorough with excellent attention to detail;
She/he will need to be able to work to deadlines, have high levels of drive and initiative, and have insight - to perceive patterns and detail below the surface.
OTHER:
The successful candidate will also need to be well organized and logical, and have a natural flair for administration;
He/She will need to have excellent communication skills, and to be able to convey knowledge and interact effectively with people at all levels.
