Group Risk Management: understanding all risks – from the economic to the political – that could affect our global business, and offering guidance to all parts of the bank

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this role will be to develop and maintain a strategy for CIB Risk Data, including technical (data dictionaries, metadata, process maps, data lineage) and governance (CIB Risk Data Board and CIB Data Board) policies, procedures and structures. The incumbent will also need to ensure that data can be delivered in cloud based technologies to facilitate fast, accurate, distributed risk decisions

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Develop, implement and maintain technical policies and standards for CIB Risk Data

Ensure policies and standards are in accordance with global best practice and the broader bank’s Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR) framework.

Maintain a data dictionary and meta-data store.

Ensure risk areas have access to data management tools and appropriate training to use the tools.

Develop automated data health reports for use in risk areas and for RDARR reports.

Develop, implement and maintain governance policies and standards for CIB Risk Data

Ensure policies and standards are in accordance with global best practice and the broader bank’s Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR) framework.

Create a CIB Risk Data Policy to ensure consistent data management across risk types.

Integrate CIB Risk Data Governance with the broader group data governance policies.

Chair the CIB Risk Data Governance Committee.

Represent CIB Risk at the CIB Data Governance Committee.



Act as the primary interface between CIB Risk and CIB RISK IT for data related work

Understand CIB Risk IT (Information Technology) infrastructure, projects and direction.

Coordinate and prioritise CIB Risk data requirements which impact CIB Risk IT.

Manage the relationship with CIB Risk IT for all data related requirements.

Maintain Service Level Agreements between data providers.



Consolidate CIB Risk Data across risk types

Ensure all risk areas have simple, efficient access to appropriate golden source data to eradicate the need for duplicate data.

Locate and remove duplicate sources of data.

Ensure that access to data across risk types is possible and efficient.

Identify and resolve persistent data feed issues.

Automate tasks in CIB Risk processes where possible.



Effectively facilitate access to CIB Risk Data

Ensure that tools are in place for CIB Risk staff to access data safely and simply.

Develop new (cloud based) interfaces to facilitate new methods to distribute data.

Resolve persistent data feed issues.



Ensure Compliance with Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR) standards and policies

Ensure ongoing compliance with the BCBS 239 (Basel Committee on Banking Supervision) data governance standards

Ensure consistency with broader group data policies, standards, interfaces and software

Facilitate the production of Risk Data Factsheets.

Preferred Qualification and Experience:

BCom Informaiton Technology/BBus Sci Information Systems/ BSc Comp Sci
Project management diploma
7-10 years experience in database design and development
7-10 years experince in data analysis and data modelling
