Role details:
The successful candidate will form part of the senior consulting management team of The IQ Business Group’s Risk division. The key responsibilities of the position include:
1. Leading wholesale and retail credit risk solutions in management consulting for corporate and retail banks.
2. Managing both presale and execution of projects.
3. Marketing existing credit risk solutions to external banking (and other) clients.
4. Assisting in creating new credit risk solutions to supply to existing and to new clients within the Banking Industry.
5. Drafting and presenting proposals (sales focus).
6. Utilising latest South African and International Banking compliance and regulation practices to identify value-add opportunities within the client environments.
7. Delivery of credit risk solutions in order to bring about value savings and capital reductions in both retail and wholesale banking environments.
8. Ensuring delivery, via team of consultants, business analysts, risk analysts and subject matter experts of proposed solutions.
9. Representing IQ Risk at high level conferences and workshops in corporate and credit risk management.
10. Understanding derivatives and structured products on top of standard retail lending. Thus good knowledge of securitization and mortgage backed pools.
11. Good knowledge of the analytics of key vendors operating in this space is desirable.

• B Com (Hons) Risk Management, Accounting or Maths
• B Com, BSc (Information Systems, Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics) or similar;
• B Acc (Financial Accounting, CA, or Auditing);
• Numerate degree (typically from a strong Maths, Sciences, Engineering, or Economics faculty) or equivalent
Having between 5 to 10 years relevant work experience within a large Corporate Bank or Top 5 consulting firm is required across the following skills:
• Solid banking regulatory compliance exposure together with bank risk management tools.
• Strong communication skills, in particular the ability to explain the results of complex analysis to a non-technical audience.
• Strong relationship and influencing skills.
• Implementation of a risk regulation in a Banking environment.
• Bank Credit Risk Management (Wholesale or Retail) experience.
• Solid experience in at least 2 of the following: NCA; FICA; Credit Scoring; Behavioural Scoring; BASEL II / ICAAP / E-cap (including operational risk, credit risk management).
• Good knowledge of collateral management.
• Strong management consulting company experience.
• Project management.
• Drafting and presenting of business proposals.
• Sales / Financial Target focus,
• Lead JAD session facilitation, requirements gathering, drafting of business/user requirement specifications.
• Financial Modelling.
• Exceptional numerical reasoning skills.
• A passion for business analysis, and finding commercial value in data.
• Must have a disciplined approach to delivering analysis or change accurately and on time.
• Ideally, strong spreadsheet analysis skills.
• Ideally, but not a necessity - a proficient and experienced SAS programmer.
• Ideally, with experience of Credit Risk management in Retail Financial Services.
The above experience should have been obtained within a Wholesale Banking or Banking Risk Division.
Exposure to any of the following will be an advantage:
• C.U.R.A.
• KnowRisk
• SAS
• Desirable but not a prerequisite: Software skills ,C, C++, VB, Matlab, SPSS, or other statistical packages
• Application software exposure to integration knowledge tools such as Fair Isaacs, Experian or other consumer scorecard vendors.
