ACCOUNTANT / SENIOR BOOKKEEPER required for a shopping centre situated in the heart of one of Johannesburg North’s most affluent and bustling suburbs. This upmarket centre is easily accessible, houses a variety of popular national retailers and boasts over 50 000sqm in retail space. Its owners are committed to enhancing the value of the centre and improving customer experience which is evident in the recent R100 million upgrade. A need has arisen for a Senior Bookkeeper / Accountant to join the centre’s management team. We are looking for someone with a minimum 5 years' hands on experience working in a finance department in a Property (retail) environment with exposure to the full finance function. The incumbent should have a B.Com Accounting or other relevant Accounting qualification. You must be proficient in Excel and it will be ideal if you have MDA or Nicor experience. You will be responsible for the full financial function which will include checking G/L and preparing the monthly financials (raising recoveries, raising council billing queries, preparing and posting monthly adjusting journals and accruals, analysing balance sheet accounts, managing petty cash, overseeing commission calculations, ensuring accurate rental statements are sent to tenants timeously, following up on arrears, handling the full creditors functions, bank reconciliations, and submitting VAT returns.) Other key functions will include preparing monthly management pack and CAPEX report, variance reporting & commentaries on income and expenses, Budgets/Forecasts (Opex & Capex), developing, implementing and maintaining audit controls and procedures in all risk areas, developing, implementing and maintaining documentation/administration and filing systems of all tenant & supplier information, ensuring custody, confidentiality and safe keeping of all tenant records and information, adherence to monthly deadlines for debtors and creditors payments, preparing financial records for Audit purposes & facilitating the annual audit, building tenant relations, and ad-hoc reporting and other requests from the co-owners. This position would suit a team player who is flexible and able to multi-task. It should be someone with strong organisational and numeracy abilities who is accurate and pays attention to detail.
