Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
• To be responsible for the installation, and maintaining of Microsoft System Centre OpsMgr (SCOM) versions 2012 / 2012 R2 / 2016 (SCOM) and above
• Maintaining infrastructure and providing specialized technical consulting, support on SCOM to clients and field service engineers, co-operating with sales and support personnel on client requirements and needs as well as assisting new staff members in technical functions

JOB OBJECTIVES
• Take cognizance of industry compliance requirements
• The need to be aware of changes in clients operational and medium to long term objectives and ICT requirements
• Understand our current service model. The need to be aware of and adhere to SLA / OLA requirements
• Have a conceptual understanding of the Service delivery model.
• The need to be in alignment with Microsoft Business Unit's policies and procedures
• Awareness of emerging and current technology

Job Requirements

EDUCATION
• Grade 12, NQF Level 4
• MCSE 2012 Server Minimum
• MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) 2016
• Private Cloud Certified in Monitoring, Operating, Configuring, and deploying (246 & 247 Courses)

EXPERIENCE
• Working and management knowledge of SCOM 2012 & 2012 R2 and 2016
• Working and implementation knowledge of batch scripting, PowerShell, and Transact-SQL development
• Should have Widows PowerShell and SQL concepts
• Conduct Research
• Understanding of (ITIL) Change Management process
• SQL Database concepts and familiarity with TSQL queries
• Active Directory and networking concepts such as TCP/IP and other networking and communication protocols and services: DNS, SNMP, SMTP, HTTP
• Documentation/Technical Authoring
• Installation of SCOM in a stand-alone as well as a high availability configuration
• Good understanding of the connector framework for integration to service desk systems
Supporting and implementation of Open Source Monitoring Tools, like, SolarWinds, CA Spectrum, CA PM, CA UIM, and other commercial monitoring toolsets will be an advantage.
