Job Purpose
 
A leading bank is seeking to engage the services of a dynamic, vibrant, and competent individual in the capacity of Senior Project Manager to successfully deliver projects within approved budget, timelines meeting quality
Alignment of projects to the business, IT strategies and objectives
to achieve the desired outcomes through best practices in project management and to manage, grow relationship with business and solution providers.
 
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
 

Project Manager is accountable for
Impact assessment in respect of implementing business requirements (For enhancements, small projects)
Translation of business requirements into high-level design specification
Determination of effort impact out of business requirement (mandatory for Project Initiation Document)
Preparation of detailed design and technical software application requirements
Specification of application controls, audit-ability, security and availability within the design
Development / customization of application software Systems
Development of end-user procedure manuals for new solutions
Development of technical support documentation Build and review implementation of plans (of solutions)
Defining and review of test strategy (entry and exit criteria) and an operational test plan methodology for business related solutions
Training the staff members of the affected user departments and the operations group of the IT function
Defining and establishing a secure test environment, representative of the planned operations environment relative to security, internal controls, operational practices, data quality and privacy requirements, and workloads
Testing changes independently in accordance with the defined test plan prior to migration to the operational environment
Deploying test environment and conduct final acceptance tests for Solutions
Managing relationships with the project stakeholder’s customers

Builds and manages project charters, schedules, quality plans, budgets, and communication and risk management plans for domain related projects
Assure the participation and commitment of project stakeholders for business related projects
Assure the effective control of projects and project changes for business related projects
Assure the participation and commitment of project stakeholders for IT related projects
Assure the effective control of projects and project changes for IT related projects
Create a software quality assurance plan for the project viz. quality plan for all deliverables, proper usage of existing intellectual property and update quality project deliverables in the knowledge base(s).
Effectively defines, communicates and gains agreement on the project scope in the Business Case. Manages changes to the project scope Business Case across the project lifecycle. Ensures the project is correctly authorised

 
Acquire Implement

Effectively estimate costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project(s) to an agreed scope
Track and manage application requirements during the development lifecycle and incorporate changes to requirements through an established change management process
Develop a plan for the maintenance of software applications
Effectively conducts research into and makes use of appropriate existing intellectual property as relevant to assigned project tasks
Contributes to intellectual property by logging all quality deliverables in the appropriate knowledge base/s
Accurately and completely documents all relevant business, functional and non-functional requirements in the appropriate documents (i.e. Business Requirements Definitions, Functional System Specifications) within agreed quality standards
Evaluate training results and enhance documentation as required
Coordinate to ensure implementation and monitoring of project databases
Ensure that all releases are compliant to Prior to release criteria

 
 Deliver Support

Delivers projects as per cost, quality, schedule and agreed criteria
Effectively traces requirements across and within the relevant models and work products by referencing and linking requirements
Provide effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience
Effectively supports the execution of required solution testing (i.e.: Process and/or User Acceptance testing)
Accurately identifies and communicates potential changes to, and their impact on, solutions. Accurately and consistently incorporates agreed changes across affected requirements documentation and simultaneously identifies, analyses and escalates project and/or solution risks and issues
The identification, assessment and management of project risks, which could result in time or cost over-runs, or failure to deliver products, which are fit for purpose.
Maximises total average resource project utilisation (no less than 80% billable) for all project resources, ensuring that all time is captured appropriately
Identify and characterize users training needs
Build a training program
Conduct awareness, education and training activities
Identify and evaluate best training delivery methods for IT
Identify and evaluate best training delivery methods for Business

 
Monitor and Evaluate

Monitor costs, timescales and resources used, and take action where these deviate from agreed tolerances
Define implement project assurance and review methods
Adheres to project governance throughout the project life-cycle (i.e.: Blue Process, relevant Templates and Modeling Standards)
Ensure compliant execution of projects
Ensure periodical reporting of compliance with quality management system
Adheres to organisational and unit operational processes, attendance of external and internal (communication) sessions and scheduled training, timely completion and submission of timesheets and leave applications
Ensure that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured and auctioned

Implement best practice methodologies in areas of people, process, tools and organization
Communicates appropriately and effectively to the all project stakeholders throughout the project life-cycle, obtaining, recording and relaying decisions accordingly
