Financial and Business results (5%):

Drive cost savings in daily operations of team
Drive and monitor delivery on agreed quality standards and turnaround times.
Manage operational team costs (telephone, 3G, travel)

Business and Process management results (10%):

Execute on annual resource plans
Participate is setting clear performance standards that are clear and measurable
Under-performance is effectively managed (Together with manager)
Work tasks monitoring mechanism and measures in place and tracked driving productivity improvement in meaningful business MIS
Participate in the selection of professional talent
Consult and advise on decisions and solutions related to profession- Solution recommendations are to be supported by viable ROI and within mandate
Drive and monitor compliance targets and implement mitigation plans
Monitor and identify operational risks and raise corrective action

Transformation and Innovation results (5%):

Enable self and team to build a enabling and productive culture improving year on year
Actively participate in team corporate citizen initiatives
Encourage innovation, listen and act on ideas from team
Provide technical / Professional guidance and support to drive solution development in team

Client relationship results (Commercial and service focus) (5%):

Drive the delivery of agreed SLA's OLA's or delivery agreements with clients
Provide professional advise aligned to the business requirements of clients
Operationalism agreed professional frameworks, methods, technologies, models within agreed parameters
Establish trusting relationships with clients through providing business relevant advise and consulting
Engage with vendors driving optimal vendor delivery (within established vendor management parameters)

Project and Programme Management (20%):

Team Projects delivery monitored and reported on.
Project budgets monitored and deviation raised
Project governance enabled and compliance monitored- deviations presented at relevant forums
Personal projects managed to ensure deviations are managed timeously and delivery meets customer expectations
Business requirements accurately translated into project schedules and alignment to requirements in monitored
Satisfactory post implementation review
Project risks identified and raised at appropriate forums

Systems Development (40%):

Advise management on the technical readiness, risk and impact of the proposed implementation to production
Comply with effective change management practices
Ensure stakeholders (business and technical) are aware of impact and risk analysis results
Complete required change management document's timeously
Ensure stake holder approval of the change
Participate in implementation forums
Ensure change migration through all relevant environments before implementation into production
Interpret the business requirements in order to create technical specifications across projects
Create or advise technical design relevant to their product area
Review technical design of other programmers within their product area and across impacted areas
Deliver and coordinate coding work tasks according to technical specifications
Supervise the delivery of work tasks assigned as per project requirements
Monitor task delivery against project plan and escalate non delivery
Accountability to ensure E2E testing through to sign off to ensure fault free production implementation
Review and sign off all test packs (incl test cases) plans and all testing related artefacts and integrated test plans

Important Skills and Experience for Dev Manager:

Microsoft .Net Development - +10 years’ experience
Solid understanding of the SDLC - at least 10 years’ experience managing software development projects - Agile +- 5 years

Project Management + Release Management - at least 5 years hands-on
Draft Project plans
Manage project financials
Initial project costing
Cost recovery

Rational Team Concert (RTC) - at least 4 years hands-on experience

SOA – at least 5 years

Software Development Costing
FPC – Function Point Counting

ITIL – at least 5 years
Software Maintenance and Support – at least 5 years
Banking branch application support – at least 5 years

Management of Dev Teams
People Management - 5 years
Vendor management


Essential Qualifications:

Degree (IT or Business Management)
JMP or equivalent

Job Related Experience:

4 years in related functional teams and
1-2 yrs in supervisory/informal leadership roles (Mentoring)
