Job Purpose:

Responsible for the development, maintenance and 3rd level support of Analytical models.
Assists in creating new or enhanced components and frameworks of the data science stack.
Codes and documents scripts and stored procedures. Develops appropriate programs and systems documentation.
Work with business partners to understand their needs, and document these needs. 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Work with IT teams, management and/or data scientists to determine organizational goals
Mine data from primary and secondary sources
Clean and prune data to discard irrelevant information
Analyze and interpret results using standard statistical tools and techniques
Pinpoint trends, correlations and patterns in complicated data sets
Identify new opportunities for process improvement
Provide concise reports and clear visualizations for management
Triage code problems and data-related issues
Develop conceptual designs or models to address requirements
Analyze problems to determine technical solutions
Decide what procedures will be required to solve technical problems
Identify new and existing products, technologies, and/or architectures to solve design, development, and operational problems
Identify new applications of known techniques
Analyze data using mathematical/statistical methods
Apply mathematical and computation methods and lines of reasoning
Document research processes, analyses and/or the results
Conduct analysis of metadata
Work with product leaders to design efficient experiments that help us decide what to build and whether what we built is working.
Be a champion for high quality data-driven decision-making throughout the company by helping other teams develop good metrics and their own data analysis skills.

Preferred Qualification and Experience:

Natural Language Processing: the interactions between computers and humans;
Machine learning: using computers to improve as well as develop algorithms;
Conceptual modelling: to be able to share and articulate modelling;
Statistical analysis: to understand and work around possible limitations in models;
Predictive modelling: most of the big data problems are towards being able to predict future outcomes;
Hypothesis testing: being able to develop hypothesis and test them with careful experiments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Being able to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment
Having the ability to query databases and perform statistical analysis;
Develop or program databases;
Advise senior management in clear language about the implications of their work for the organisation;
An understanding of how a business and strategy works;
Have a good understanding of design and architecture principles;
The ability to work autonomously
R /  Python / SAS / Hadoop / Spark experience
Science degrees (MSc, BSc) are typically best suited, but not a requirement
