Roles & Responsibilities
Data Management - Strategy Inputs

 Provide data and information related input into the development and implementation of theAGSA 4 V strategy
Provide data management inputs to the development and implementation ofthe AGSA ICT Strategy
Provide inputs to the development and implementation of the AGSAEnterprise Information Management and Information Security plans
Manage InformationOrganisation and Retrieval
Work with the Enterprise Architecture team to develop AGSA datamodelsWork with the Enterprise Architecture team to align the defined data models with theapplication data models
Promote the adoption of the data modelling standard within theAGSA
Develop, implement and maintain ETL processes to customise data extracts and importinto the dimensional data warehouse
Contribute to the conceptualisation, development,implementation and maintenance of AGSA data dictionary
Improve and streamline processesregarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, integrity, availability, security,viability and value
Manage information organisation and retrieval in accordance withpolicies and procedures of the AGSA
Work with the DBA team to ensure the integrity of thedatabases containing the AGSA data

Manage Data Warehouse

Assist the Data Warehouse Architect to plan the architecture of the solution including of thefollowing
Identification of data sources used to store  data (including missioncritical data)
Definition of data management requirements (including the importance of datahistory and real time data requirements)
The selection of a storage repository
Definition and Implementation data schemas
Development and Implementation of DataMarts
Lead the development and implementation of the AGSA data warehouse
Managestandards and templates for data warehouse using BI tools
Coordinate resources assigned tothe data warehouse initiative
Work with the database administration team to manage day today data warehouse operations

Develop Data Governance

 Assist with theidentification of clients mission critical data
Assist with the identification clients Dataowners and data stewards
Provide inputs to the development and implementation of datagovernance capability.
Establish processes to define, integrate and synchronize data acrossthe organization.
Drive and champion initiatives to address data quality with relevantbusiness process and data owners.
Ensure that data management systems and initiativescomply with internal data management policies and procedures.
Work with the InformationSecurity team to ensure data security in all clients systems.
Develop and implement datapolicies and procedures in alignment with clients 4 V strategy

Manage the Analysis of information

Develop and document BI and data warehouse system design guidelines
Developinteractive reporting solutions based on BI functional specifications
Resolve queries andlogged information problems
Collaborate with end users to identify needs and opportunitiesfor improved data management and delivery

Development of Information Management Reports

 Manage all requests for the compilation of a report and analyse the request to determinethe nature and extent of the report
Manage the collection of the required data from allrelevant sources
Manage the data verification process to ensure that only applicable datais utilised
Manage the data collation process and generate the reports utilising theinformation in accordance with policies and procedures

Make recommendations in accordance with the information athand

Develop dashboards, business intelligence solutions that enablesfact-based decision making, ad hoc analysis and insight generation
Submit the report forapproval where necessary
Distribute the report to the relevant role players
Archive the report for future reference purposes
Compile the report in accordance withpolicies, procedures and legal requirements
Compile the report within the allocated timeframe

Manage Business Intelligence(BI) Service Offering

Promote the value and potential of BI in theorganization
Ensure that the organization leverages off its BI investment
Ensuresthat BI projects are aligned with client strategy and meet business requirements
Manage ateam of BI developers and ensure that they deliver timely BI initiatives
Manage standardsand templates for BI solution stack
Provide inputs on SLA targets for BI and ensure SLAtargets are met
Assist and train knowledge representatives

Manage Human Resources

Analyse the Centre business plan to determine the applicable deliverables and targets for DataManagement
Participate in securing the human resource requirements to ensure thatdeliverables will be met in accordance with the expected targets
Manage staff performanceto implement a culture of performance management:
. Compile IPC’s andPDP’s
Conduct coaching sessions to ensure subordinate performs at the optimumlevel
Provide constant feedback to subordinate
Provide mentorship tosubordinate
Conduct performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and takecorrective action where necessary
Manage the development of staff and ensure each staffmember has a Personal Development Plan Create a conducive environment to maintain and enhanceemployee motivation
Supervise BI developers and assist with methods and techniques duringanalysis, development and implementation of BI software systems
Motivate and assist juniorBI team members to achieve desired objectives
Shares BI best practice and standards withICT software developers and business users
Manage Human Resources in accordance withpolicies, procedures and legal requirements
Complete Human Resource Management actionswithin the allocated time frames

Manage Stakeholder Engagement

Maintainrelationships through communicating BI and Data Management goals, objectives and results betweensoftware developers and business users during the SDLC
Collaborate with project team,ensuring that quality BI solutions that meet business needs and objectives are delivered on time andwithin budget
Continuously collaborate with Business Analysts and Testers to ensure useracceptance of BI system changes

Monitor and Input into Budget

Participate in thecompilation of the BU budget indicating the financial requirements for data management in accordancewith the budgeting guidelines
Assist in the monitoring and control of allocatedbudget.

Skills, Experience &Education

Grade 12 (Matric 12)
 Minimum Degree inInformation Management/Informatics or a related qualification
Business Intelligence and/orData Management certification
Qlikview or any Business Intelligence reportingcertification
Deep knowledge, skills and understanding of the Data warehousing designmethodologies and dimensional modelling techniques
Evidence of designing, developing andimplementing complex data warehouse solutions using best practice data warehouse designmethodologies and dimensional modelling techniques
More than 5 years’ experience indeveloping and implementing MIS/BI solutions using a combination of Qlikview, Microsoft BI solutionstack or Oracle Business Intelligence solution stack
Strong understanding of the datawarehouse technical infrastructure including security, database administration, ETL environmentadministration required.
3 years’ data project management experience in a complex,multi-function, multi-entity environment required.
Demonstrated knowledge of data modellingconcepts and software development life cycle processes and methodologies
3-4 years insupervisory role, mentoring technical staff and defining and improving development and supportprocesses
