Background:
The division is responsible for the clients operations in South Africa and provides a wide range of services to a number of public and private sector clients and partners in the country.
The strategic target of growing its loan book substantially in the next 5 years. The Business Development Professional will be instrumental in ensuring business growth through directing and managing business development activities to ensure these are delivered in accordance with the Divisional Strategy.
Purpose of the role:
Covering the market and developing new business in order to build a robust pipeline of prospective projects for development financing. Depending on need the BD professional might be tasked to structure investment projects as and when required by the business.
KPAs
Building good quality pipeline of medium to large sized investments through Business Development
Map industry or sector opportunities in order to generate a list of prospects
Undertake marketing to potential and existing clients in order to build project pipeline
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, global and regional private businesses, banking and multilateral partners and Government officials to develop specific investment opportunities
Provide innovative and flexible financial structures for complex transactions
Conducting market research, business analysis and profiling
Preparation of feasibility studies and business plans with intention of closing investment deals
Leverage partners to provide capital for new business investments
Formulation of strategies to attract appropriate funding for projects
Increase client base in target sectors
Contribute to preparing strategy and policy documents for submission to EXCO/Board
Assist with the evaluation, structuring, negotiation and closing of new business transactions
Mentor and develop junior staff
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree
Post-graduate qualification such as CA (SA), CFA or MBA will be strong advantage
Experience in sourcing, appraising, negotiating and project finance, corporate finance or structured finance transactions in a financial institution
Understanding of Transport sector will be key
6-10 years experience in the Business Development arena
