Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to provide strategic vision and operational IT leadership for the Information Technology department and be accountable for directing, planning, organising and controlling all IT functions. In addition, the role is responsible for the delivery of a broad range of IT services and sponsors process/system improvements aimed at the efficient and effective provision of IT services.
The Head of Information Technology for Botswana is a member of the Executive Committee and also represents the Bank on external forums as directed by the Executive Committee. Please note that you must be in possession of Botswana Citizenship to apply for this role.

Key performance measures aligned to this dynamic role:

Maximum system availability with minimal network outages as per SLAs
Achieve optimal Mean Time to Repair on all system faults
Attainment of satisfactory audits (internal and external)
Number of projects delivered on time and budget
High availability of Disaster Recovery Sites and successful testing of DRPs
Manage and contain staff turnover within acceptable levels
Develop and implement viable succession plans
Define and achieve training targets for IT staff
Effective change control and fault reporting/management
Cost containment as per agreed budgets for both Capital and Operational expenditure
Service delivery & Help Desk management - Attain minimum of 80% in ISS
Compliance to all IT security policies and procedures
Disaster Recovery Plans to be tested at least twice a year

You will be responsible for all IT staff as follows:

Managers - Infrastructure, Applications and Electronic Banking/Channels Support, Systems Development, Computer Centre, IT Security & Projects,Team Leaders - Infrastructure, Help Desk/IT Admin, Systems Administrators, Application Support, Peripheral Systems, IT Security, Projects/Change Control, Database Administrators,Officers/Specialists/Analysts - Infrastructure Specialists, Help Desk/IT Admin Officers, IT Security Specialists, IT Projects/Change Control Officer, Systems Administrators, Systems Analysts, Applications Support Specialists and Electronic Banking/Channel Support Specialists.

You will be required to Direct, Plan, Organise and Control the function of the IT department to deliver reliable services and support utilising secure, effective and consistent processes, technology/systems.
Your specialist skills will require you to Manage Capital and Operational expenditure spend within country limits and engage in Strategic IT Planning for the region.

Key Accountabilities include the following:

Plan, develop and implement in-country IT strategy in conjunction with Standard Bank (SB) Group Head Office IT
Ensure adherence and compliance to the IT operating model as directed by SB Group
Define Service Level Agreements and ensure efficient and effective delivery of IT services within these parameters
Implement effective in-country Disaster Recovery Plans and ensure alignment with overall Business Continuity Management plans
Build and lead an IT teams that possesses the right skills and that is structured on shared best practices for service delivery excellence
Provide accurate and timely reporting to both country executive committee and SB Group Head Office IT and other stakeholders
Plan and manage IT Capital/Operational expenditure budgets
Undertake Contract negotiation and Vendor management for and on behalf of the bank
Manage risk and enforce adherence to IT governance and standards
Manage stakeholder expectations and balance these with technical/systems capabilities
Facilitate and manage Head Office and country relationships
Enforce the application of IT management disciplines including adherence to IT governance
Control and monitor performance objectives
Manage the entire IT portfolio of hardware, software and LAN/WAN communications
Attain satisfactory audits
Participate in all Country Executive committees and contribute to the bank’s strategic planning processes
Develop team targets and goals in line with the department’s and business’ key strategic objectives
Oversee and ensure project implementation within budget and set time frames
Efficient management of Country Fault Reporting and change management processes
Ensure that appropriate IT security processes and policies are in place and aligned to Group policies and procedures.
Liaise with SBA Head Office IT Support and matrix managers on country updates and issues requiring attention by Centre
Represent the bank’s interests on external forums

Desired Skills and Experience:

You will contribute, build and engage in key significant relationships with the Chief Executive Officer, Regional Chief Executive Officer ,Heads of units who are members of the Executive Committee,Team Leader(s), IT Security Specialists,All Stanbic (Botswana) entities that utilise services provided by IT department Unit, SB Group Head Office Support Centre and Members of the Executive Committee.In addition you will be required to Lead the Information Technology Management Committee.

This role will have authority to make decisions around priority and resource allocation at country level, and seek agreement with stakeholders on these decisions and will have additional authority to make decisions as delegated by the Chief Operations Officer

Knowledge, Experience and Personal Competencies:

Tertiary qualification in IT or a related field
Post graduate qualification would be an added advantage
Strong knowledge of Information Technologies, Telecommunications, Network/ Infrastructure planning and services, IT service delivery, exposure to application development lifecycles, and systems integration.
Experience in managing vendor relationships and related contract agreements
Strong project management skills including an understanding of business transformation and change management
Knowledge of the technical and user-related aspects of a Client Server environment.
Knowledge of the Banks core systems/applications and peripheral systems

At least seven years experience in any of the following areas:

IT security, Technical, support, Systems Administration, Applications support, Electronic Banking/Channels Support, Programming and Project Management.
At least five years senior management experience
Banking/financial industry experience would be an added advantage
