Overall Job Purpose: The role is within WIMI IT, Strategy & Architecture function with specific responsibility for defining the technology architecture required to support and enable delivery of the company technology programme. It will report to the Head of Technology of Strategy & Architecture with a dotted line into the WIMI IT team. The role will involve co-ordinating with other parts of the broader company group to produce a joined up architecture and development approach, facilitating Africa Technology co-operation across all global markets in which it operates.

Key Accountabilities:
25 - 35% Strategy Development Engage key stakeholders in WIMI, Group and other clusters to understand the key business and technology drivers and environment Translate and communicate the WIMI Technology Architecture to all stakeholders, ensuring alignment to the vision and strategic direction of Africa Technology as well as WIMI.
Assist in the definition of WIMI strategy for Data, Applications and Infrastructure for all of Africa that will enable delivery at acceptable cost, time and risk Ensure alignment with company Africa Technology approach & wider WIMI architectural standards Work with Lead Architects, Technology Partners and business stakeholders to define a breakdown of strategy into specific delivery projects Coordinate any work to maintain the architecture by means of a documented and well communicated roadmap supported by business-derived IT Roadmaps across all areas within the Corporate franchise.
20% - 30% Governance over WIMI Technology Landscape and Artefact Management Ensure that architectural governance is socialised with all stakeholders as well as adhered to for all initiatives.
Ensure all projects journey through the formal Governance structures facilitating early engagement with the members of the relevant forums to ensure easy passage through the various governance gates.
Provide input and participate in all relevant Africa-wide architectural forums e.g. ATAC, EDA etc… as required and as the Africa Corporate representative.
Manage the Corporate Teams Application Portfolio capturing architecturally relevant attributes to supplement the Golden Source application lists maintained by Corporate RTB Teams Oversee the establishment of a repository for documents and representations (artefacts) generated by the Africa Corporate architecture and design teams as well as ensuring templates exist for the documentation of roadmaps, design submissions, technology council submissions as well as any other standard documentation required from an architectural governance perspective.
Assist in the effective adoption of approved toolsets across the relevant functions that have a requirement to document representations or artefacts of an architectural nature.
10% Expansion of Architectural Capability within WIMI Technology.
Act as an architectural and design champion for all functional areas of WIMI Technology by forming teams (virtual or otherwise) from within the business-aligned IT teams.
Improve the maturity level of the architecture discipline within the organisation by growing the architectural capability (in conjunction with centralised initiatives to achieve this where relevant).
Mentor solution architects and application development teams; providing “thought leadership” and robust review and challenge
20 –30 % Solutions Development
Oversee & sign off delivery of end-to-end technical solutions related to major initiatives across or affecting WIMI Africa.
Ensure alignment to overall design during the end-to-end application delivery lifecycle (including infrastructure design/delivery and application design/delivery) Ensure compliance with company standards and methodologies; work closely and align with Enterprise, Domain and Application architecture teams Track proof of concepts and assist with RFI’s/RFP’s to determine suitability of technologies being considered and deployed. Measure against agreed WIMI-wide principles.

Role / Person Specification:
Essential Knowledge & Expertise Strong communication skills, including ability to present and facilitate technical workshops with diverse and challenging [senior]stakeholders Fluent in English Experience leading technical architecture and design and development work streams spread across multiple [global] locations; proven leader Broad knowledge of IT and an excellent understanding of how technology impacts on other business functions.
Strong data architecture and logical / physical database modelling background (e.g. expert SQL, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata etc.) Knowledge of formal modelling techniques, including exposure to UML and other diagramming techniques.
Experience of Industry standard Architecture Frameworks( e.g.TOGAF, Zachman, Gartner Architecture Framework) Exposure to multiple development frameworks (.NET, J2EE etc.), most likely including expert level software development background in at least one mainstream language Experience with integration/middleware development products / approaches (MQ, ESB, EAI, XML, Web Services etc.) in a complex mixed vendor/bespoke application environment, including a detailed understanding of how data quality and integrity is maintained across complex, distributed systems Understands the technologies involved, current IT developments and industry direction Proven problem solving capability, able to resolve issues of a complex or strategic nature

Preferred Additional Knowledge & Expertise Knowledge of Financial Services Banking
7+ years experience and exposure to Technology within Financial Services preferably Including knowledge of payment systems/processes.
3+ years applied enterprise architecture experience across two or more domains within a Financial Services environment.
Exposure to SOA (Services Oriented Architecture) design principles, service definition and web services implementation.
Exposure to ETL design and implementation, MDM.
Competence in the execution of substantial IT delivery programmes from inception through to a successful result.
In depth IT experience including principal/lead architect/designer roles, ideally in a Commercial Banking environment.
B-degree in Information Technology, a relevant banking or business degree or an NQF Level 6 equivalent qualification or Industry accreditation.
TOGAF (or similar) certification.
