Information and Communication Systems (ICS)
UWC’s Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department has embarked on an exciting journey of change and transformation, playing a pivotal role in delivering ICT services that enable and support the University’s goals and objectives. The appointed candidate will support clients using the Sharepoint platform and associated Microsoft products to develop and maintain solutions in a collaborative environment. The incumbent will work with a team of experienced analysts, developers and business resources to build highly-performing enterprise systems that improve clinical outcomes and increase staff productivity and functional performance.

Key Performance Areas:

- Build applications for both Sharepoint and standalone systems using .NET, C#, Visual Studio
- Design portals / sub-portals using other technology platforms besides Sharepoint
- Assist users with Sharepoint support calls, e.g. access issues, leverage web parts
- Error identification, investigation and resolution of support calls to user satisfaction within agreed SLAs
- Analyse requirements submitted by business, map and build on Sharepoint
- Identify new areas where Sharepoint can be leveraged on an ongoing basis
- Assist business with the migration of documents from fileshares and setting up MySites
- Monitor site usage and review sites for excessive complexity
- Edit and customize pages using Sharepoint Designer
- Troubleshoot corrupt quick launches using Sharepoint Designer
- Develop new functionality on our existing software projects (to test and maintain the functioning of all interfaces to and from core applications)
- Keep up to date with industry trends through actively seeking and acquiring knowledge

Minimum Requirements:

- NQF level 7 equivalent qualification in Information Systems or related field;
- 3-5 experience years’ software development experience using .NET framework
- Experience in using Team Foundation Server (TFS)
- Prise Application Development
- MCSD qualification would be advantageous

- Self-motivation, independence, detail-orientated; a responsible team player with exceptional relationship management skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts and software essential
- Passion for building high-quality systems with software, implementing best practices while leading and mentoring a team of developers
- Knowledge of the .NET 3.5/4.0 framework, including latest Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASMX, and WCF Web Services, and ADO.NET
- Exposure to latest Business Intelligence trends & tools
- Exposure to the latest development trends in Mobility Business Solutions
