Five-Year Term Appointment
The Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies at Stellenbosch University was established in 2007 as the National Hub of the Postgraduate Programme in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies. The Centre acts as a central point of entry into Stellenbosch University for the general field of renewable energy. The academic and research programmes focus on solar-thermal and photovoltaic systems, wind-, geothermal-, bioenergy and on using the ocean as a source of renewable energy. The Centre is funded by the Department of Science and Technology through the National Research Foundation’s Centres of Excellence Programme and by Eskom as part of the Eskom Power Plant Engineering Institute (EPPEI). The Centre has a well-established track record spanning over a decade and an extensive national and international network of collaborators. For more information see: www.crses.sun.ac.za

Duties: - Overall management of the Centre, including the academic-, financial-, human resources- and strategic management
- Liaising with government, industry and academic partners
- Soliciting funds and projects to support the activities in renewable energy at Stellenbosch University.
Requirements:
- A relevant doctoral degree, OR a master’s degree in engineering with proven experience in research management
- Proven academic and/or industry based management skills on a senior level
- Good communication- and teachings skills
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership qualities.
Recommendation:
Experience in the field of renewable energy and power systems.
Commencement of duties: 1 May 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter
