Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Become involved with the client before project initiation – in the project conceptual phase, acts as the client relationship manager and is responsible for consulting with the business to find the most optimal solution to the business’ opportunity or problem. Work closely with the project managers and business technology specialists in developing the appropriate solution to meet the business need. Acts as lead to other Business Analysts in large, complex projects; consults with other Business Analysts and clients on organisation cross-boundary projects. Acts as auditor of documents and models that are produced by other business analysts to ensure quality; consistency and completeness of information. Is an active participant for the life of the project through all phases and will be required to mentor Business Analysts and to advocate for the business whilst working closely with a variety of internal and external business partners.

Strategic analysis of business problem/opportunity, guide business to find optimal solution before project initiation
Determine best approach to use for gathering, validating and prioritising requirements for projects of high risk complexity. Understand team roles in projects which follow non-standard methodologies or where there are sensitive politics of power.
Execute and modify requirement management plans to control or counteract requirement risk. Lead Requirements planning activities and monitor and manage requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Assists project leadership in identifying potential project plan variances
Manage the Communication Plan for project and stakeholders during project phases
Demonstrate the ability to use more than one method or tool for project execution.

Demonstrate good understanding of the different methods and tools used to evaluate and perform decision analysis.
Writes requirement specifications and develops business process and data models that define the business need.
Use advanced data and process modelling to describe business requirements and business information requirements.
Develop risk strategy and responses to manage requirement risks
Help business stakeholders identify and clarify their goals and IT requirements by conducting meetings/interviews and facilitating brainstorming and JAD sessions across large group and/or cross-functional groups.
Build, sustain and leverage relationships with persons within his/her area of immediate responsibility when gathering, validating and approving requirements.
Use negotiation techniques to encourage debate and constructive, open discussion to build consensus and agreement of requirements.
Act as Lead Business Analyst on any size project, directing and coordinating Business Analysis team members and activities related to requirements gathering and documentation
Provide coaching and mentoring to other business analysts
Solve problems created by changing requirements and/or synthesising requirements of business analyst team
Work with Business Architects to author business cases and feasibility studies in partnership with sponsors to justify (or not) the investment in business initiatives
Provide consultancy and advice on functionality, applicability and usability of technology solutions to project requirement

Bring disagreement or contentious issues into the open to diffuse and address conflict.
Act as a champion to changes within the business analysis profession and to motivate business analysts in continuous development
Identify opportunities to improve current business processes
Partner with Architects to ensure business representation during vendor selection process and interfaces with vendors to understand whether vendor products meet business requirements.
Partner with Project Managers to deliver projects within the triple constraints and with successful quality solutions.

Educational Requirements:

BA Diploma obtained through an IIBA endorsed training facility
Post graduate in BSC Computer Science or BCom Informatics

Skills:

Advanced Information and business Modelling tools (workflow and process modelling) – preferably ARIS
Technical modelling techniques (data modelling, logical database modelling and design) – preferably Rational tools
Advanced analysis, problem solving
Manage Business Analysis tools and techniques
Understanding of complex business models
Use of business assessment tools: Feasibility studies, business cases, cost benefit analysis, requirements estimation, current state analysis and needs assessments, Stakeholder Analysis and Requirement WBS (work breakdown structure)
