Job Purpose:

The provision of specialist technical expertise and support in installing, testing, tuning, optimising, diagnosing problems, repairing ,upgrading and maintaining both externally and internally supplied hardware and systems software such as operating systems, data management products, office automation products, embedded systems, and other utility enabling software and related equipment.

Key Performance Areas:

Audit service delivery functions to ensure adherence to documented procedures.
Collects and analyse performance data relating to resource usage and failure rates of installed systems to monitor system efficiency against published service level agreements.
Gather and analyse performance statistics from the ICT platforms to enable recommendations and translate into executing plans for the tuning of system hardware and software.
Review and amend development and service delivery staff on policies, procedures and standards for the correct and effective use of system hardware and software.
Inspect malfunctioning computer hardware, software and/or components; analyse cause and plan repair procedures and diagnose root cause analysis Investigate service problems and recommend solutions.
Liaise with vendors to meet the organization's problem management needs Maintain awareness of existing and emerging software and hardware solutions and develop upgrade plans.
Perform and consult on a variety of technical tasks in the diagnosis, repair, maintenance and installation of computers and/or related equipment to support the business process needs of the organization.
Prepare and maintain operational documentation for relevant system software products related to the documentation of new technologies
Review releases, upgrades and fixes available from system suppliers and identifies those which merit action recommend and approve action to be taken

Essential Qualifications:

Degree NQF 7 / IT Diploma

Job Related Experience:

10 years plus exposure to IT environment with minimum of 8years SE
Proficient understanding of Project life cycle
Proficient understanding of applications environment

The suitable candidate must be proficient in the following:

SAS administration, preferably 9.4
SAS eGRC administration
Ab Initio administration
Netezza administration
Actimize administration
MicroStrategy administration
Microsoft Reporting Services, SQL 2008 and newer – must have skills in one or more of the other technologies
Knowledge of Microsoft Server administration, 2008 and newer - – must have skills in one or more of the other technologies
Linux – installing above applications on Linux servers, troubleshooting, monitoring, scripting
AIX – installing above applications on AIX servers, troubleshooting, monitoring, scripting
