ICT plays an important role in high quality educational service delivery to students. The large number of students and diversity of study areas in the Faculties of Arts, Education, Law and Theology pose specific challenges to empower students and academics to use information technology and e-learning. The purpose of this position is to address these needs in a practical way.

Duties:

• Design, implement, maintain and, when required, migrate multi-site highly available Citrix end user solution including XenDesktop (7.6 or later), XenApp, PVS, MCS, XenClient, Synchroniser, NetScaler, Web Interface and Store Front;
• Application deployment including Citrix XenApp, Microsoft RDS, Microsoft App-V, Microsoft SCCM and Application Jukebox;
• Resolve application errors and performance issues and monitor end users' experience;
• Apply Microsoft Active Directory computer and user group policies, group policy preferences and scripts to manage the environment;
• Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory, group policies and user profiles (Windows and Citrix), DHCP, DNS;
• Install, manage, optimise and troubleshoot Microsoft Server 2012 R2 (physical and virtual);
• Management and monitoring systems including Lakeside SysTrack, Microsoft SCOM, VMware vCentre and Dell OpenManage;
• Implement Microsoft SQL 2012 Database Always On and Mirroring;
• Implement hypervisors (VMware vSphere (5.1 or later), Microsoft Hyper-V);
• Investigate new technologies which optimise the utilisation of resources and flexibility amidst a fast changing ICT landscape where cloud services are increasingly playing a role. Re-training and changes in duties may be required in this position as requirements may change over time.

Requirements:

• Citrix Certified Professional Virtualization (CCP-V) or Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator (CCEA);
• Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Desktop Administrator on Windows 7;
• At least five years relevant experience in Citrix XenDesktop implementations not less than 500 Virtual Machines or 500 users;
• At least seven years relevant experience in Microsoft Active Directory including but not limited to group policies, DHCP and DNS;
• The ability to solve technical problems independently;
• The ability to function effectively within a multilingual environment;
• Ability to operate in a team as well as independently;
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interact with users in a professional manner;
• Willingness and availability for after-hours planned and unplanned maintenance.

Recommendations:

• Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Administrator on Windows Server 2008;
• Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist: Windows 7 and Office 2010, Deployment;
• VMware Certified Professional – Datacenter Virtualization (vSphere 5);
• Experience with:
o Management of physical servers and storage (iSCSI,NFS);
o Management of PCs (Microsoft Windows Deployment Services, Microsoft SCCM) and thin clients;
o Application deployment (to physical PCs, VMs and mobile devices, Microsoft Remote Desktop Services).
