Role details:
The Commercial Executive reports to the Managing Director and is responsible for the provision of the Estimating / Tendering, Proposals and the Procurement functions of the company all in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company.

2.1 EDUCATION AND TRAINING

2.1.1 The position requires relevant experience in a Senior position in a Contracting and/or Project Management environment preferable in the mechanical, civil or structural field on large capital projects and/or substantial long –term facility maintenance operations .
This should include experience in the procurement, operational and commercial aspects together with relevant marketing / customer relations exposure.
The minimum education level would be Matric. A relevant tertiary qualification in an engineering or commercial subject would be an advantage.

2.1.2 The position requires the individual to have a higher than average level of computer skills with the emphasis being on MS Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.




1.2 RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this position cover the majority of the commercial functions within the company. The main areas of responsibility are as set out as follows:-

1.2.1 Management and development of the Estimating function to ensure that we can accurately assess the costs of work to be tendered.

1.2.2 Examination and review of commercial / contractual requirements of enquiries to ensure that we are aware of all risk areas and that the financial implications of same are fully assessed and that tenders submitted include such costs or that suitable qualifications are included in the tender.

1.2.3 Initiation. preparation and presentation of the Risk Analysis process where required for high value or high risk tenders.

1.2.4 Development of modular costing structures for frequently required items such as site establishments.

1.2.5 Development and implementation of Tender Register / Measurement and Reporting system to monitor success rates.

1.2.6 Preparation of Top Ten. Order Intake and Crucial Contract monthly reporting.

1.2.7 Development and introduction of a comprehensive and Professional Tender Proposal format and coordination with the various involved Departments to obtain their required input.

1.2.8 Preparation of Contract Close Out and Variance Analysis documents to monitor and evaluate any variances between tendered and actual performance levels.



1.2.9 Management and further ongoing development of company Procurement function.

1.2.10 Development of synergistic links with other Procurement departments within the Group with a view to gaining competitive advantage through international sourcing.

1.2.11 Development and implementation of an accelerated BEE procurement programme.

1.2.12 Coordination of the straight sales of goods and materials.

1.2.13 Provision of advice to Operations Management on any contractual matters arising in the execution of the works and the management of any contractual dispute processes.

1.2.15 To manage the development and training of staff assigned to the department and ensure that performance appraisals are carried out in a competent and timely manner in accordance with the company procedures.
