Job Summary:

To manage the processes, systems andfunctions that package, build, test and deploy changes, known as Deployment Management, which arebound as releases into a live environment.

 Responsibilities /Outputs:

Plan, organize, direct and manage activities forbuilding and maintaining software releases for their promotion between test environments and intothe production environment.

Support the project teams including SoftwareDevelopers, Testers, Application Operations and business unit personnel in executing and managingtest processes and establishing the environments used to conduct testing of the final deliverablesworking in a matrix management organization.

Direct activities to ensure thesoftware products meet quality standards and performance objectives within defined time and budgettargets.

Maintain and provide continuous improvement of the Release Managementprocesses, working methods and tools.

Support software development lifecycleactivities and Service Management activities such as Release, Change, Configuration, Validation andTesting.

Maintain and drive the efficiency and effectiveness of the daily ReleaseManagement activities.

Ensure that a structured approach to risk assessment andbusiness impact is employed when processing software releases.

Ensure the ReleaseManagement process is introduced and implemented according to guidelines from leadership.Additionally, the selected Release Manager provides continuous communications and coordination ofprogress on actions, tasking, and issues.

Champion and promote the benefits of ITService Management processes including Release, Change, Service Validation and Testing.

Provide day to day oversight of adherence to the Release Management processes, policies, andprocedures.

Help drive the activities that continue to improve the efficiency andeffectiveness of the Release Management processes.

Support initiatives associatedwith the integration of the Change management process into the Release, Configuration, ServiceValidation and Testing processes.

Report to project management and servicemanagement on the progress of the Release Management effort including the status of project softwarebuilds, deployments, and environments supporting launch phases of software development lifecycle.

Interact extensively with the functional team leads in the estimationcycle, identification of inter-team dependencies, delivery plan validation, impact assessments,issue tracking / resolution and status reporting.

Identify and understand issues,problems and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusion; usingeffective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solution; takingaction that is consistent with available facts, constraints and probable consequences


 Experience:       

Matric plus an ITIL intermediate certification

Experience in SoftwareDevelopment Lifecycle process and Release Management within a large enterprise environment

Experience with facilitation and enforcement of procedures and processes, across multipleteams and diverse geographic locations

Demonstrated ability in establishing andmaintaining metrics-based process improvement

3 years’ experience as aDevelopment Team Lead
