Qualification

Business or Financial university degree (honours or masters)
Additional qualification would be considered favorably

Desired Experince

At least 5 years practical experience, specifically in finance business analyst related functions
Practical leadership and management experience will be advantageous
Deep knowledge of product processes in his/her area of expertise
Solid understanding of applications in area of expertise
Skills include six sigma, project management, business case writing

An opportunity exists in the Finance Solutions Area for a Business Analyst – Demand role focused on the Finance portfolio.
The focus of the Business Analyst – Demand role will be to provide expert domain/business knowledge on all Finance aspects across business areas. This requires a thorough and in depth understanding of all processes. A key function will also be the engagement with business to define a set of business requirements, to meet any business need requiring a solution.
The role requires people who are passionate about understanding financial and investment banking markets, with a specific focus on Finance. A thorough understanding of the technology platforms servicing Finance is also required.
Overview of the Position
The Business Analyst – Demand will report into the COO in the Business Unit. Serves as the expert within Finance with a deep understanding of the business processes and roles to inform the motivation for changes and the stipulation of business requirements for prioritised needs.
The key responsibilities of the Business Analyst – Demand are to:

Thoroughly understand the Finance Architecture. The Finance Business Process Analyst is responsible for and work with end-users and project owners to identify and attend to business needs
Be an expert in Finance and industry trends in the relevant product or business area (i.e., how the industry is moving and what competitors are doing in the Business Analyst’s area of responsibility)
Motivate for proposed changes/improvements in the Finance area by writing business cases where relevant to assist in the BU/FA prioritisation process.
Clearly understand the business requirements for prioritized BU/FA business needs; articulate them in clear and understandable Business Requirement Specifications that can be used by BT to develop needed solutions; and provide BT with needed business engagement during the solution delivery.

Responsibilities:
Thorough understanding of Product/Business and User Requirements:

Analyse business from all aspects to develop an in-depth understanding of the business
Ensure a clear understanding of business processes, business rules and supporting business roles and structures
Be responsible for defining business process capabilities, business process design and envisioning solutions for business needs
Liaise with stakeholders to elicit, analyse, communicate and validate requirements for business processes, policies and, where relevant, IT systems
Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to discuss requirements for changes to business processes, policies and, where relevant, IT systems
Analyse existing business processes and facilitate improvements with stakeholders
Compile training material in conjunction with central BT, and provide end-user training to stakeholders where relevant

Market and Industry Expertise:

Be an expert in market changes and industry trends by remaining on the forefront of emerging industry practice in his/her business area
Keep abreast of changes and trends in business processes and relevant methodologies
Ensure competitor insights by understanding what competitors are doing in the relevant business area
Anticipate business area needs based on insights gained from industry-wide developments

Motivation for Product/Business Changes:

Drive forward-thinking and innovation in the product or business area
Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change in his/her business area
Provide input into BU prioritisation process by motivating the rationale for proposed changes in the particular product or business area and providing business cases where relevant to support the motivation
Provide input into the business benefits for the proposed changes and quantify them where relevant
Assist in driving the prioritisation process for the BU/FA to deliver, document and communicate the roadmap agreed with business for relevant business area
Optimize the use of limited resources (budget and staff) when giving input into the prioritisation process in his/her business area
Conduct a gap analysis between current and required specifications when motivating for needed changes in the prioritisation process
Actively participate in ensuring that the proposed changes deliver the expected benefits through the facilitation of engagement between the end-users and BT

Business Requirement Articulation and Project Follow-Through:

Clearly understand the business requirements for prioritised BU/FA business needs
Articulate business needs in clear and understandable Business Requirement Specifications that articulate what is need from business and that can be used by BT to develop needed solutions
Engage with the central BT business analyst team while they prepare Functional Specifications and Technical Specifications that articulate how the business need will be met
Sign-off on the functional specifications as prepared by BT
Provide BT with needed business engagement during the solution delivery and play the role of user tester as required
Provide consultation, advice and facilitation to projects in BT as needed
Be responsible for implementing the business change and champion the roll out to users (i.e., landing the change within the BU/FA that does not relate to technology but would typically involve ensuring that end-user testing takes place, training is done, business processes are changed to support new technology etc.)
Work with project team members to define metrics/performance goals/ acceptance criteria for the solution or system
Assist with project evaluations, scoping sessions, PMO strategy, planning and implementation
Participate in quality reviews or set reviews of designs, prototypes, and other work products to ensure they meet requirements
Identify and raise project risks and issues
