Job purpose:

Perform deploy and operate work that pertains to job run scheduling (as specifically allocated by line management from time to time in order to achieve optimal work load distribution amongst job holders.)

The incumbent shall be accountability to perform the work as allocated that will pertain to one or more job run scheduling deploy and operate processes:

Deployment of batch job run schedules on the resident scheduling tools to execute all planned, on demand and ad hoc job scheduling.
Support batch run monitoring operations (including application users (operators) and analysts.
Continuous scheduling optimisation and maintenance of job scheduling run books.
Maintenance (preventative and reactive (incident and problem resolution)), and supporting job scheduling backup and restore.
Support to Operational Controls processes (Audits, Risk and DR& BCM governance, business processes improvements, performance management, and finance and business management), supply of requested information and implementation of corrective actions as applicable.

SLA performance score(s) – (MTTR, MTBF)
Risk and DR & BCM score(s)
Audit score(s).
Customer satisfaction score(s)
Key performance metric targets (not necessary limited to the above only) would be continuously agreed with the line manager.

Qualifications:

National Senior Certificate
Qualification (preferably vendor certified) in the use of the resident batch run scheduling tools (e.g. IBM TWS, BMC Control-M, RMS, Report Viewer).

Knowledge:

Extensive knowledge and understanding of batch run scheduling processes in a large banking enterprise and the use of associated tools and a good understanding of related multiplatform operations.
Good proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Good business writing and reporting skills.

Experience:

3-5 years experience in deploying batch job run schedules in IT Operations in a large enterprise.
Demonstrable track record.
Good understanding of the current state of IT Infrastructure, specifically pertaining to large enterprise IT batch run operations and related systems and processes.

Technical competencies:

Basic ITIL exposure.
Affinity for software and programming.
JCL programmer (preferable)
Batch job run scheduling expertise.

Problem solving:

The incumbent must be able to frame problems within a business context and understand the business impact of problem and business value of solving them and be able to communicate that clearly to both staff and clients.
The incumbent must be able to provide quality solutions.
As a result of the dynamic nature of Group IT, the incumbent must be innovative and think out of the box so as to provide effective solutions to problems.
Planning
This role spans multiple services and so requires a high degree of consultation and engagement in all related activities.
Decision making
Decisions are made rationally and professionally, with due regard for policies and standards.
In many cases decisions will need to be made based on limited or unclear data. The incumbent will be expected to use experience, judgement and management skill to limit risk of poor decision making.
This role has firm-wide effect on infrastructure service delivery to LoB. As such, decisions made can be far reaching and would impact the financial position and/or reputation of the Bank.
