Realm Digital is looking for an experienced Business Intelligence Business Analyst (BIBA) to join our dynamic team on a 12 month contract.

You will be responsible for the analysis of business requirements with the focus on meeting the relevant business objectives. You will also be responsible to operate within both support and project environments. Produce a comprehensive functional specification from business requirements by maintaining a high level of in-depth knowledge wrt MIS/BI and other relevant data concepts. You will also ensure alignment between business, project managers, data analysts, data stewards and non-MIS team leads. Continuous business and industry research to provide guidance around data governance and data management

Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work on-site at a corporate client as part of a mixed Realm Digital/client team
Be the link between Business and D&A
Needs an in-depth understanding of D&A in order to provide input during planning and design meetings between MIS and Businesses
Works closely with D&A Architects and Data Modellers to translate business requirements into technical work packages
Problem-solving through:
Working knowledge of Business environments
Close relationship with business area specialists (business analysts)
In-depth knowledge of D&A environment
Provides thought leadership around:
Data Governance
Data Management
Data Strategy
Assists with User Training
Chais Data Governance forum that will include representatives from business (data stewards, analysts, BI) as well as technical (data modeller, data architect, DBA’s)
Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios and business analysis.
Work closely with Data Engineering team members:
Ensures Data Engineering team adheres to data governance principles
Assists the project manager with data related scoping and planning
Assists data modeller and architect with the refinement of business requirements
Assesses and documents the business impact of user requirements on the business processes involved
Assists business with data/system testing as well as UAT and provide feedback to the development team
Operational Data Engineering:
Reviews and suggests improvements to D&A process
Engages with DBA’s to ensure compliance to data governance (health checks, security, DR, backups, restores, space etc.)
Custodian of reporting catalogue – engages with Front-End Development Lead to ensure adherence to processes that will keep catalogue current
Engages with source system leads and feature team leads regarding data governance and processes
Ensures that all D&A related documentation is kept up to date and centrally maintained
Ensures that trends in data are known and ensures that strategies are in place or updated to react to these new trends (e.g. Big Data, Cognitive Computing, Machine Learning etc.)
Qualifies Data Ownership and evaluate, monitor and approve user access

Qualifications & Experience:
Grade 12
A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification (degree/diploma) and at least 6 years’ proven experience within management information systems/analysis
Proven experience in drafting functional specifications
