Preferred Qualification and Experience
 

Honours Degree (preferably from the Logistics, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Studies or Computer Science)
6 years managerial experience in Banking/Operations environment
5 years Production experience is preferable
Exposure to a high volume-manufacturing environment
Exposure to operational and physical risk environment
Experience in coordinating efforts across multiple regions
Experience in using statistical forecasting and supply planning systems
Experience in executing to a Blue Print
Experience in formal ISO Quality Management
Experience in implementing large-scale change projects
Experience in managing significant vendor contracts / outsourced relationships
Experience in influencing key business stakeholders to Executive level

Job Purpose
A leading Bank is seeking to engage the services of a dynamic, and competent individual, in the capacity of Manager: Cash Supply Chain Planning. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, coordinating and directing the creation of realistic cash demand forecasts and replenishment plans to enable optimal cash supply chain activities for delivery against specified service requirements, costs and risk levels.
The job is ultimately accountable for optimal planning of overall bank cash inventory, movement and handling costs at acceptable service, residual risk levels.
 
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
 

Understand the strategy of PBB SA Operations and the Production strategy and aligning the Cash Supply Planning activities accordingly
Understanding the relevant industry players and dynamics and adapting the Operations Planning approach accordingly
Short and medium term operational planning for both domestic and foreign currency at various cash points (e.g.: ATMs, branches, SAPO and ATM Solutions).
Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
Optimal cash inventory management taking into account associated cash handling and movement costs
Planning, design input and implementation of industry led and bank driven initiatives
Planning, design and implementation of internally driven optimisation of the cash supply chain
Interpret MIS ( trend analysis, decision making, recommendations)
Represents the bank at designated operational industry forums (e.g.: ICMS workgroup, Cash payment clearing house (PCH) and SBV business support group) where nominated.
Exception management with regards to daily cash settlements between banks.
Investigation and resolution of cash supply chain queries relating to cash movements, costs, settlements and reconciliations
Management of master data for cash supply settlement system (Integrated Cash Management System - ICMS)
Establish and define risk control limits and insurance requirements for cash movement and storage
Provide input to budgeting process for cash supply chain (operational, cash holding and SARB ad valorem budgets)
Internal (change services, operations enablement, service management, branch and ATM channel, security, GRES) and external (SARB, SBV, CIT vendors, SAPO and other commercial banks) stakeholder management
Cost management and budgetary control, including the development and management of the Cash Supply Chain Planning budget and unit cost management and reporting against this.
People Management, including
Providing direction, clarity and accountability to the team to deliver on business objectives
Inspiring, motivating, leading and managing the team
Recruitment, development and retention of relevant skills in order to meet the business needs.
