Reporting
• Monthly
• Preparing monthly reports for Group Balance Sheet Management Committee and Exco’s
• Produce a monthly Property Portfolio asset liability position report including a 12 month rolling forecast.
• Produce an annual Property Portfolio capacity planning report.
• Produce an annual report..
• Assist with adhoc reports.
Analysis
• Monthly analysis of performance –as well as asset class actual performance vs benchmarks.
• Monthly analysis of actual property portfolio cash flows vs expected and reasons for differences.
• Ad hoc analysis work on various asset class returns.
Research
• Ongoing research
• Annual review
Mandates
• Ensure that asset managers utilised are correctly mandated and that the performance is monitored in line with mandates
• Key requirements
• Qualifications
• Matric
• University degree in finance, mathematical statistics or actuarial science
• Optional – Qualified or near qualified actuary, CFA or CA (SA) or other financial qualification
• Experience • At least two years experience in investments, financial markets or related areas
• Knowledge
• Basic understanding of investments and asset management.
• Knowledge of investment landscape and financial / actuarial environment
• Some knowledge of investment returns attribution and life office asset liability management would be an advantage.
• Skills (personal and interpersonal)
• Modelling and financial analysis
• Ability to analyse, question and interrogate information
• Computer literate – excel, word (Microsoft).
• The need to understand the underlying liabilities, project cashflow requirements and anticipate potential exposures and optimally invest policyholder and shareholder assets to maximise return and monitor
whether we remain within risk budget.
