Role details:
Performs strategic analysis and design of TSM infrastructure and makes recommendations on improvements and/or new systems required to meet business needs and future capacity.

Install, maintain, update and administer TSM.Daily corporate backups using TSM software and monitoring of schedules for failed and missed backups.
System Administration of AIX operating system, IBM Storage, Virtual Tape Libraries, and IBM LTO Libraries
Fine-tune and troubleshoot TSM environment for optimal performance and resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
Diagnose TSM platform issues (server and client side) and provide Support in complex, business-critical environment including physical and virtual infrastructure.
Produce basic project plans, root cause analysis documents, change/risk assessments, and product management documentation.
Create and update documentation including daily backup reports.
Evaluates and applies software upgrades and support packs as required to solve production problems and/or ensure compliance and system integrity.
Consults with senior engineers while working with infrastructure and applications teams to troubleshoot complex problems, providing root cause analysis and remediation to mitigate future risk.
Prepares and maintains professional documentation of server configuration(s), application configuration(s), and network configuration(s) as they relate to server infrastructure, high availability, business continuance and other areas as requested.
Reviews the existing backup architecture, policies, and operational considerations and recommends and establishes best practices.
Participates in backup capacity measurement and monitors activity for the in-scope environment. Conducts regular testing of the restore processes to ensure reliable operation.
Performs routine backup policy changes and ensures all backups are properly run and completed within mutually agreed upon timeframes.
Set up client(s) for backup/restore and archive/retrieve, configure backup schedules, and perform tuning, problem determination, and resolution.
Facilitates the resolution of complex problems and interfaces with support resources within the organization and the supplier community.
Documents operational best practice processes and procedures related to the backup environment and recommends changes to procedures, resulting in operational optimization and improved service level agreements.
Participates in technical exercises for disaster recovery to ensure high reliability and efficiency.
Participates in long range planning and ensures those plans are consistent with business objectives for resiliency, disaster tolerance, and regulatory compliance.
Designs and leads a holistic approach to manage the storage and backup service capability while standardizing hardware and software solutions.
Creation of reports for both clients and management
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for storage Backup support
Provide technical leadership to more junior team members
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other related field.
TSM 6 Certification
Experience Required:
Requires 5 – 7 years of experience in backup and recovery (TSM) and SAN environment.
Extensive storage device knowledge (disk, tape, robotics, VTL, NAS, etc.)
Networking knowledge (LAN, SAN, WAN)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Advanced knowledge of operating systems, vendor-specific environments, and other system software.
OS and DB Administration: Windows, Unix, Linux, SQL, ORACLE, DB2 and SYBASE
Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills. Attention for accuracy and a concern for detail.
Problem and issue resolution skills.
