Role details:
Focussed on driving business performance through commercial knowledge and effective decision support. Provide product financial support and analysis on product pricing, product/customer profitability, product optimisation for divisions. Performs comprehensive analysis that instils key points and clearly articulates “what the numbers are saying”. Responsibilities include the preparation of management accounts and overseeing the implementation of accounting policies/procedures and ensuring adherence. Prepares financial reports and budgets for the executive to support the financial decision making process. Supports business in articulating their strategic choices to win against competition.

Key Responsibilities – Primary Function(s) of the Role
Strategy
Translates Divisional Business Strategy into impact on profitability, balance sheet and cash
Generate viable business alternatives in response to new challenges and opportunities.
Contribute to the development of Business strategy in line with market trends and economic conditions; in alignment with Finance and Shared Services’s overall business strategy and values in collaboration with stakeholders
Contributes to the development of the Commercial Sales framework which includes the management of financial risks, structures, processes, culture and technological architecture
Determine and lead action plans to meet agreed strategic objectives within client portfolio
Continuously seek and innovate financial services offerings to clients
Contribute the development of a pricing strategy and implementation thereof.
Contribute to defining customer profitability methodology and thresholds based on strategic objectives
Interpret and implement business plan and targets

Financial (Satisfied Stakeholders)
Leads the business performance management process for Sales by identifying the correct KPI’s to track, in determining whether strategic initiatives are driving value or not.
Contribute to the development of Sales annual budget and forecasts within the strategic guidelines
Leads the planning and forecast processes within Sales, setting targets, forecast development and management reviews.
Review and approve bid pricing submissions to ensure alignment with profitability targets
Accept accountability and responsibility for financial and budgetary targets in line with Sales financial objectives
Supports Sales actions to direct and co-ordinate activities to achieve profit, maximise cash flow and return on capital
Seeks new financial analysis techniques for enhanced business decision making
Tracking of financial performance of business cases
Tracking of financial performance of deals
Management of budget for deals and product sales
Evaluation of viability of product and capital investment cases

Customers (Satisfied Customers)
Promote and facilitate optimum relationships between Sales and Finance Shared Services
Establish and enhance strategic customer relationships.
Drive excellence in collaboration with the delivery organisation and set delivery metrics / targets to drive customer excellence
Ability to communicate with clarity and impact utilising multiple channels
Considers alternative scenario’s and applies judgement to help drive great decisions and superior performance

Operational
Direct short-term and long-term planning and budget development to support strategic business goals
Develops and manages the appropriate business performance management process so as to prioritise business opportunities ad influence business decisions
Manage the compilation of reports per account detailing debtors, revenue, gross profit and profit before income tax.
Ensure that profitability client reports are proficiently compiled to support revenue and GP growth
Apply the relevant methodology for On Risk on a continuous basis
Manage financial functions and preparation of reports and statistics detailing financial results
Support the overall growth of business revenue and GP within Business
Comply with relevant reporting, accounting and audit requirements imposed by regulatory bodies and provide consultative support to business areas
Understand the importance of accurate data and utilises systems, tools and technologies to execute processes and data analysis.
Tracking of competitor deal information through market research
Contribute to development of tools to aid in the business planning process for revenues
Understand intergroup trading model (transfer pricing) and related impact on pricing methodologies Identify opportunities to evaluation and reduce intergroup costs
Constantly review all product and services profitability
Ensure improvement of product gross margins over time
Deliver services in a way that is timely and ensure information is accurate and understandable
Monitor the integrity of data used or generated and liaise with the appropriate people to initiate amendments
Ensure alignment of product pricing across and advise business of potential gaps/impacts

People

Job Requirements -
Qualifications/Certifications required
Bachelor’s Degree (Hons)
CA (SA) qualification (NQF Level 8)
MBA/ MBL will be an advantage

Job related knowledge
Senior management role that managed 50 - 100 employees across different teams for between 3 and 5 years. Made a strategic contribution by agreeing and setting goals for operating units, supplying and co-ordinating resources for established practices and systems,as well as designing and developing new systems. Experience in decision-making that directly impacted various business entities. ± 6 - 8 yrs
Operational: Experience within one main sector (Finance). Managed large capital projects. Had responsibility for budgets at a corporate group level. Has exposure to cross-cultural experiences. ± 8 - 10 yrs
Good understanding of the IT services competitive landscape and positioning
