Business Connexion is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with strong Non-Stop Skills. We are looking for a dynamo to join our team in Midrand and be responsible for System configuration and maintenance (Guardian/OSS - HP NonStop or UNIX O/S).

As a Systems Engineer your role will include the following:

Installation and modification of IT infrastructure. Operates closely with customer to determine requirements and resolve problems. Provides general technical consulting on systems to customers and field service engineers. Co-operates with sales and support personnel on customer requirements and needs. Assists junior and new staff members in technical functions.

CONTEXT

Take cognisance of industry compliance requirements Be aware of changes in clients operational and medium to long term objectives and ICT requirements Understand the current BCX service model Be aware of SLA / OLA requirements Have a conceptual understanding of the Service delivery model. Awareness of latest updates of Service Catalogue which form the basis of Service delivery Alignment with Client Services Models Awareness of emerging and current technology.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE NQF 4 (matric) Novell IDM certification is an advantage MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) HP/IBM/EMC Storage management tools Minimum 6 - 8 years experience in an IT environment COMPETENCIES Knowledge: BCX policies and procedures (governance) Client policies and procedures (governance) Understand BCX values and ethics Operational structure (organogram) Skills: Application of specialisation areas (e.g.. messaging) Interpersonal skills Conflict management skills Problem solving skills (both technical & soft) Report writing skills Core Competencies: Conceptualisation Client Excellence Orientation Insight Flexibility Initiative Team work Analytical thinking Verbal communication

MUST HAVE

Database management
System configuration and maintenance (Guardian/OSS - HP NonStop or UNIX O/S)
Capacity planning
HP tools, e.g. Scout, TWS, KBNS, etc
Knowledge of Systems Architecture

On-the-job training
Ability to communicate and interact with suppliers/customers and business partners
Ability to conduct unsupervised researches
Understand and comply to all ITIL Principals specifically Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Capacity Management, Availability Management
NICE TO HAVE

Tandem skills (Minimum 5 Yrs)
Tandem subsystems e.g. SCF, FUP, TSM, SAFECOM, DSM/SCM, TMF, SQL, OSS, Measure, PATHWAY, etc.
NSK upgrade
Exposure to GSM switching environment
OC-INS and TSCE knowledge
Understanding of GSM principles
UNIX / LINUX skills - Operating System Administration & Management
Mainframe Support experience
Understanding of project environment work
Development principles
