Job descriptionJob purpose Perform deploy and operate work that pertains to Client Service Services Database operations (as specifically allocated by line management from time to time in order to achieve optimal work load distribution amongst job holders.)
Key Responsibilities The incumbent shall be accountability to perform the work as allocated that will pertain to one or more of the following Database deploy and operate processes:
a. Perform deployment work for projects on demand and in accordance with project schedules. Weighting: XX%
b. With respect to operational databases:
i. Perform preventative and re-active (2nd and 3rd level) database maintenance and database administration and application support processes.
ii. Deploy database changes and additions.
iii. Maintain run books for databases maintenance and administration.
iv. Support database data backup and restore in cause of disaster recovery in accordance with the backup and restore regime.
v. Perform DR exercises as directed by the BCM regime. Weighting: XX%
c. Resolve incidents and problems and escalate 3rd level support requirements to 3rd party support contractor(s) and coordinate support provision. Service restore shall satisfy service level agreements. Weighting: XX%
d. Maintain run books for databases administration and maintenance utilising deployment- and maintenance guides directives originating from Products & Services. Weighting: XX%
e. Interaction with Products & Services and Infrastructure Solution Delivery to optimise and maintain SQL infrastructure service levels at a level that fully endorses GTIs service level agreements with its customers. Weighting: XX%
f. Support Operational Controls processes (Audits, Risk and DR& BCM governance, business processes improvements, performance management, and finance and business management), supply requested information and implement corrective actions as applicable. Weighting: XX%

Qualifications National Senior Certificate
A formal qualification (preferably vendor certified) in the use and administration of SQL databases.

Knowledge Knowledge
Extensive knowledge and understanding of operational SQL databases and associated operating systems and a good understanding of the related banking business applications utilising SQL databases.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Intermediate business writing and reporting skills.
Experience Experience
3-5 years experience in operation and administration of SLQ databases, the SQL server application and hosted applications requirements.
