Job purpose:

Design the specification and develop applications from the Intergrated Solution Design, Small WorkRequest Functional Specifications or RTB Incident to meet defined Business needs

Assist business with EMV card behaviour and aligning EMV card behaviour with business requirements
Keeping up with association and EMV new releases, new requirements, new specifications and make sure the bank is aligned with this
Stay informed with what is happening in the rest of the world wrt EMV
Have a good understanding of the EMV acquiring process

Technical Experience:

10+ years COBOL programming experience
5+ Years CICS
5+ years DB2
VSAM files
TSO
Some Java exposure would be an advantage

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan & Organise:

Build code and amend as per program specification and agreed standards.
Create EMV profiles
Create P3 required files
Create prototype EMV cards
Prepare EMV file specifications
Prepare Unit Test Cases
Conduct Unit testing and fixing the detected errors.
Conduct EMV card testing and analysis
Develop Technical Support documentation with agreed standards
Take part in reviews of own work
Document work done as per the standards followed in the bank

Acquire and Implement:

Construct, interpret and execute system and program test plans to verify correct operation of completed systems
Document all work using required standards, methods and tools.
Translate logical designs into component designs, taking into account the integrated solution design, performance requirements and existing systems.
Update and provide input to risk analysis and development plans to take account of design decisions.
Ensure alignment to Release methodology and procedures.

Deliver & Support:

Working alone or with colleagues on simple or medium complexity systems, produce outline systems specifications from Integrated Solution Design or Functional Specifications covering for examples, scope, constraints (such as performance , resources etc.). Hardware, network and software environments, main system functions and information flows, data load and implementation strategies, phasing of development, requirements not met and alternatives consider.
Build (code) user / system interfaces, including menus, screen dialogues, in outs, reports, validation and error correction procedures, m processing rules, access, security and audit controls, recovery routines and contingency procedures.
Working with data analysis colleagues where appropriate, produce or update system object/data models and correlate these with corporate models.
Working with appropriate database design or database administration colleagues where appropriate, to translate object and data models into appropriate DB schemas within design constraint.
Assist less experienced colleagues with difficult coding problems.
Conduct reviews of supplied specifications as appropriate
Provide guidance and assistance to colleagues in any aspect of program component design, creation, testing and documentation.

Monitor and Evaluate:

Adhere to organisational standards and procedures
Adhere to project timelines and defect SLA

Developer 2 additional responsibilities:

Coaching of junior staff
QA work of junior staff
Identify ongoing efficiencies and cost saving initiatives
Ensure that all component design takes full account of specified requirements and constraints

Developer 3 additional responsibilities :

Advise development staff on the evaluation and impact analysis of major design options
Advice, maintain and implement the organisations system development standards, methods and procedures.
Assist in the assessment and selection of suitable software packages to meet all or parts of specified requirements.
Take a leading Technical Role in development projects.

Internal and external relationships:

Primarily interacts with the Team Lead / Project Manager responsible for the Project / WR / RTB Fix on a regular basis.
Additional clarifications with the Enterprise Solution Designers and Technical Specialists.

Qualifications / Knowledge:

BCom Information Systems
BSc Computer Science or Information Systems
Diploma in Information Systems
Van Zyl & Prichard / LUSO/ ITUC Programming qualification
Bank recognised computer programming course
