Role details:
An Internet Services company, basedin Cape Town, is seeking to appoint a Support Engineer L1.

Knowledge &Experience:

Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
Knowledge of the OSImodel, TCP/IP routing and switching
1-2 years’ experience working as a networkengineer – this includes routing and switching, variable sub-netting and IP allocations
Experience in network troubleshooting methods and commands: PING, Traceroute, MTR, tcpdump andWireshark
Must have solid routing and switching experience
If certified, must beCCNA (international accreditation only)
Ability to collaborate with multiple technicalresources in order to achieve common business unit outcomes
Must be detail-oriented, withstrong organizational skills
Must be resourceful and able to take initiative in a dynamicenvironment
Proven ability to meet designated deadlines and able to manage multipleprojects
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service and presentationskills
Working knowledge of OSI layer standards, protocols and concepts: Ethernet, GPON,VLAN, SNMP, NTP, DNS, SMTP, ARP, DHCP, PPPoE, L2TP, GRE, IPSec, OSPF, BFD, VRF, MPLS and VPLS
Experience in working on project teams and providing technical feedback to project managers
Experience in identifying networking issues pertaining to design, optimization andimplementation
Experience and knowledge in network monitoring, capacity planning andnetwork security principles
