Role details:
This position will be to assist different business units in regards to solving IT related challenges and to put systems in place to assist business units to perform better, to create specifications on new and existing projects.

OUTPUT 1 - Perform analysis of existing customer or internal systems to ensure that these systems are optimally designed

Performs analysis of new or existing systems, applying best practice analysis procedures to understand if they are running as per standard.

Completes detailed documentation of system where analysis has been done.

Works closely with all the relative parties involved.
Provide clear communication of analysis to customers and / or internal teams.

Monitors and reports on services provided.
Ensures high satisfaction levels

OUTPUT 2 - Actively involved with the complete life-cycle of any improvements to existing systems or new systems to improve customer or internal business operations.

Develop an understanding of how present and future business needs will impact the solution

Assists project managers to meet customers’ expectations
Establishes & implements procedures, standards and guidelines.

Documentation of technical, product and process requirements.

Assists with the implementation of such changes when required.

Maintains high quality of service delivery.

Assist in defining the sign-off criteria for a solution.

OUTPUT 3 - Provide 3rd line support on customer or internal systems when necessary

Maintains overall service levels as agreed with internal business units.

Maintains relationships with the various internal & external providers.

Accurate & Detailed Time Recording.

Takes prompt corrective action where service is below standard

Root cause analysis.

OUTPUT 4 - High level of involvement in the running of the UCS TS internal ICT systems and management of the Gauteng team.

Remains abreast of ICT Services to ensure their alignment to changing business requirements.

Understands the team framework for the ICT division.

Strives for high levels of co-operation within the team framework for the ICT division.

Understands level of authority and responsibility within the team.

Mentors & enhances the performance of junior staff.

Contributes to positive team morale.

Management of the Gauteng ICT team members.

OUTPUT 5 - Participates in the development of the ICT budget and manages expenditure within budget parameters.

Awareness of current and future cost requirements for the various services.

Assists with ICT budget.

Assists in keeping the costs of services delivered in line with the approved budget.

Assist in keeping expenditure in line with budget parameters.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

In-depth knowledge of Operating Systems
In-depth knowledge of computer hardware
In-depth working knowledge of MS Server and Desktop products
In-depth knowledge of Active Directory (incl group policies, security procedures and schema management)
In-depth knowledge of MS Exchange
Good understanding of Retail Systems and processes
Good understanding of Security standards
Good understanding of automated installation procedures
Good understanding of network routing and configuration (LAN & WAN)
Good understanding of virtualization platforms (specifically VMware)
Good understanding of MS SQL Server, and other Database engines.
Post-Matric technology qualification or equivalent
Good understanding of 3rd party Service Providers
At least 10 years’ relevant working experience
Strong Understanding of Server / Network & Desktop Hardware
Understanding Telecommunication and Network technologies (Diginet,PABX,VOIP,ADSL, TCP/IP)
