Risk & Control Objective:

Overall Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to take responsibility for the delivery of tactical automation initiatives. Duties include:
• Organisation of staff already allocated within Tactical Automation Team • Understanding the initiatives intentions, vision and stakeholders • Ensure that the engagement model includes business on a daily basis • Managing the staff allocated to the workstream to ensure delivery and job satisfaction for the staff member involved • Providing subject matter expertise to the stakeholders based on experience, technical knowledge and best practice

Key Accountabilities

Accountability: Workstream/delivery/implementation (50%) • Work closely with business users to plan the implementation of initiatives.
• Formulation of options to problem-solving specific problems and presentation of these to relevant business users.
• Provide subject matter expertise to business users and team members where necessary • Ensuring the team work closely with business representatives to accurately determine business requirements • Ensuring post implementation support is provided to end users.
• Ensuring all issues are appropriately monitored and resolved.
• Liaison with relevant business stakeholders and line managers in order to provide feedback on progress, issues and changes.
• Regular feedback to Junior or Senior Change Lead on progress, issues, resourcing levels.
• Participate in the entire development cycle (analysis, design, prototyping, construction and deployment) to ensure user satisfaction.
• Provide solutions for queries raised by business • Automation of manual business processes throughout CFO environment

Accountability: Interaction with subject matter experts in relevant BAU functions (30%) • Interaction with end users to determine their requirements • Ensuring the pivotal business stakeholders and end users understand our approach to each initiative.

Accountability: People and Team Management (20%) • Work closely with team members to produce performance objectives on a semi-annual basis.
• Ensure the team members display values-aligned behaviour at all times.
• Interview and recruit direct reports and assist the wider CFO Business Enablement team with their recruitment needs where appropriate.
• Maintaining own knowledge on best industry practice and imparting this on the team members • Meeting business people within CFO to gather business requirements • Participate in prioritization meeting to discuss future book of work.

Role / Person Specification
Education and Experience Required
• NQF Level 7 – relevant Honours degree or Post Graduate Certificate preferred • 5 or more years’ experience in system development • System or business experience in a Banking environment gained in a Finance, Product Management or Front/Middle Office role preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:
• Understanding of large scale systems that need to process and distribute large amounts of data efficiently • Must be a clear methodical thinker with good problem solving skills • An appreciation of IT system architecture • Performance orientated and client service driven • Track record with people management • Business acumen • Maturity - able to deal with senior executives • The ability to work in a pressured and unstructured environment and to cope with the demands of working to tight deadlines • Exceptional interpersonal and team-working skills and the ability to communicate at all levels • Advanced Excel and MSAccess VBA skills • Use of reporting frameworks (Business Objects, Qlikview) preferable

Mental & Environmental Demands (RSA Specific)

Most complex decision that can be taken without referral to the manager: The order in which the components of a project/workstream are delivered.
Business change accountability: Accountable for the delivery of initiatives to the CFO environment.
Finance/Resource accountability: Only to the extent that is change related.

Communication and Interaction required:

1. Creation of the system design and functional specifications for all new development projects.
2. Write technical procedures and documentation for the applications including operations, user guide, etc.
3. Produce technical documentation for new and existing applications.
4. Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new IT software projects and initiatives
5. Serve as a liaison and facilitator between all business units to assist in addressing and resolving IT software issues.
6. Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements.
7. Provide support for Production incidents, analyze and design Fixes.
8. Participate on IT project steering committees and be involved in the design phase of any new IT software development projects.
9. Participate/provide input in Production release activities.

Qualification:
1. Experience in Insurance products/industry
2. Strong Knowledge in Systems Integration.
3. Knowledge on Mobile Platforms.
4. Good Back ground on Java and JEE based Frameworks and platforms
5. Knowledge on Networks and firewalls and DMZ.
6. General it infrastructure knowledge would be advantageous including mobile operating systems.
7. Understanding of Data Power, Web Sphere Message Broker, IBM BPM would be advantageous.
8. Knowledge on Security protocols like SSL, SSO, Auth etc.
9. Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
10. Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment with changing priorities
