Role DescriptionSolutions Architect Western Cape Southern Suburbs A specialist financial services company, arecurrently seeking a Solutions Architect, the company was launched over 20 years ago. The successfulcandidate is will partner with business analysts and engineers to define the technical requirements,principles and models that generally guide all solution decisions for the ecosystem. They areresponsible for analysing and translating business, information and technical requirements into anarchitectural blueprint that outlines solutions that integrate across applications, systems andplatforms to achieve business objectives. Solution Architects look across applications, and considerinfrastructure, to develop roadmaps that outline how solutions will be structured in the future. Weare looking for someone who is has excellent communication skills with ability to explain technicalconcepts to lay audiences, and will need some experience of with working with board levelstakeholders. Description role responsibilities: Perspective: Technology Engineering: Strategic business acumen (understand business requirements and strategy) Experiencing in assessinga broad range of information solutions and products particularly document management, collaborationand content management. Technical analysis and design and Broad and deep technical knowledgeTechnical leadership (the trusted, technical advisor for assigned line of business, providingthought leadership and application of technology to business problems) Shapes the evolution ofcompany’s products, Maps product requirements and business problems to re-usable end-to-endtechnology solutions Uses methodologies and frameworks (using best practices and common patterns,including database, component layers, user interfaces, web services, and integration patterns)Software architect (must understand and contribute to all levels of design needed for the solution(business, data, application, technology) Deep experience in developing enterprise solutions usingall aspects of the .NET platform, open source or Java (or any other environment), Web Services,multithreaded programming, designing and building frameworks, enterprise patterns, SQL design anddevelopment, and database tuning Documents integration and solution designs and how they interactwith the larger Enterprise Architecture and Contributes to the organizational architecturecapability. Perspective: People Stewardship: Team player with experience leading and collaboratingcross-team to ensure successful delivery of solutions, Works with major lines of business, ITDevelopment and Operations teams Provides Design guidance and QA to the IT Development andConfiguration teams, Is a member of the Architecture team and Hands-on experience Perspective:Commercial: As part of a team to guide the organisation into the future, Build cost effective yetefficient solutions to drive the business to achieve its organisational goals
Skills and Experience
Education and skills: Minimum: Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, systemsanalysis or a related study Ideal: Post Graduate qualification in computer science or engineering,systems analysis, a related study or business related degree Formal qualification in EnterpriseArchitecture (e.g. TOGAF) Requirements: 5 – 7 years extensive experience in at least two ITdisciplines in a client/server or service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, includingtechnical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database managementor operations. 3 years’ experience in architecture methodologies and frameworks such as TOGAFor the equivalent and 5 – 7 years software development experience in Microsoft or Java or OpenSource 5 – 7 years’ experience in Proficiency in Design and modelling toolkits (Visio,Enterprise Architect) 5 – 7 years deep experience in developing enterprise solutions using allaspects of the .NET platform, open source or Java (or any other environment), Web Services,multithreaded programming, designing and building frameworks, enterprise patterns, SQL design anddevelopment, and database tuning 3 years working knowledge of infrastructure including servers,storage, firewalls, load balancers, etc. 3 years’ experience in the SDLC and 3 years’experience in Agile/Scrum methodology, overtime is expected from time to time Competencies (skillsand behavioural attributes)Skill: Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives ofsituations. Ability to translate business needs into integration and solution architecturerequirements. Ability to estimate the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems. Ability to quickly comprehendthe functions and capabilities of new technologies. Strategic business acumen and understanding oforganisation strategy and ability to design information systems to delivery that strategy Strongcritical thinker with problem solving aptitude Strong conceptual and analytical skills -demonstrating outside-the-box problem solving skills Ability to rapidly build an understanding ofthe organizational business model and understand each solutions contribution towards theorganizations success.
