Role details:
The Technical Account Manager looks after existing customers and supports sales staff in new accounts. This typically entails building and maintaining an exceptionally strong working relationship with the customer, at many levels of their organisation, liaising with their decision makers and architects to disseminate and communicate the value of products and to explain how software fits their requirements, and shaping and leading consulting engagements with those organisations. Beyond this, the TAM stays intimately involved in the customers’ projects, ensuring that they are wholly successful long-term.

REQUIREMENTS:
A strong technical background, coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills, and strong presentational capabilities are requirements.
Must be customer and delivery focussed - equally comfortable talking to developers on technical topics as presenting to a senior audience.
It is expected to develop a broad and deep knowledge of products and the applicability across the data processing spectrum.
Past experience in the data arena, perhaps with databases, major development languages or environments, or with other major vendors would be preferable.
Demonstrable successful experience operating in a sales or pre-sales environment and having a high level of commercial awareness is essential.
