Senior Developer: Insurance Hosted Solutions

Overall Purpose of the Job:

Convert project specifications and statements of problems and procedures to detailed logical flow charts for coding into computer language.
Analyze business requirements and develop and write computer programs to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data, and information.
Report back to management and clients and clients on progress made on projects.
Handle queries and resolve problems in an efficient manner.
Must be passionate about technology, with a strong focus on architecture and the latest advancements in software development platforms and methodologies.
Inquisitive nature with a good business knowledge.
Person must be able to manage own time and deliverables and that of subordinates effectively.POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Write, update, and maintain computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs, such as performing calculations, storing or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment.
Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program.
Conduct testing of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct.
Consult with and assist system users and clients to define and resolve problems in running computer programs.
Consult with managerial personnel, business analysts and clients to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.
Prepare reports on the status, operation and maintenance of system software for use by management.
Correct errors by making appropriate changes and then rechecking the program to ensure that the desired results are produced.
Perform or direct the expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
Perform systems analysis to formulate the technical design of programs to accommodate changes required to build functionality to support new business processes.
Write or contribute to instructions or manuals to guide end users.
Be responsible for the timely delivery of a functionally complete add tested software

Education (Formal Qualification required):

Matric
3 year diploma or relevant degree

SKILLS:

Extremely strong technical ability and problem solving.
VB.Net and C#.NET / Visual Studio 2010 IDE
WCF
SQL 2000 - 2008
Web services
ASP.Net
XML
SQL Stored Procedures (Exposure to Oracle would be an advantage)
Experience with Source Control System such as TFS
IIS Administration
