Duties:
• Managing the logging, tracking and reporting of projects logged via the IT Service Management application;
• Coordinating internal resources, internal stakeholders and vendors from project initiation until closure;
• Assisting with the collaboration in the project process and communication;
• Managing the project dashboard to ensure that all relevant information is recorded, published and communicated to the stakeholders to track project progress;
• Measuring and reporting on project performance (Planned vs. Actual and Critical Path) using the appropriate tools, specifically to analyse the critical success factors;
• Reporting and escalating project risks and issues to relevant governance structures;
• Managing the relationship between the client; relationship managers; other project managers; faculty managers; computer user areas IT managers and the domain architects;
• Identifying project risks and proposing mitigating actions to minimise;
• Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation published in project or other document repositories;
• Delegating project tasks based on roles, resource availability, skill set and experience level;
• Attending conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency;
• Organising project progress meetings to track project execution; monitoring; control; goals and progress;
• Embracing and promoting the project discipline prescribed by the IT Project Management Office.

Requirements:

• Qualifications:
ICT or Business degree or diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, or a Project Management course completed at a recognised training institution with four years’ experience as a project manager on ICT projects, or two years’ experience as a project administrator supplemented with an additional two years of project management experience.

• Requirements:
o Proven working experience in project management;
o Excellent client-service skills;
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
o Solid organisational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills;
o Strong working knowledge of best practices for ITIL and the Project Management body of knowledge. Even PRINCE II;
o Strong working knowledge of popular project related software tools; MS Project, Confluence, JIRA or other recognised software tools, as approved by the Project Office management;
o Proficient with MS Office’s suite of products;
o Excellent resource planning and task scheduling skills.

• Skills and proficiencies:
o The ability to compile and track project budgets;
o Competency to construct strong project schedules;
o The ability to manage and track project schedules using the Critical Path method;
o The ability to drive and embrace process improvement;
o Strong commitment to planning and time management;
o Sense of urgency in reaching project milestones;
o Understanding that the completion of project artefacts is as important as embracing all other project knowledge areas;
o Respects and understands the need to complete project administrative tasks.


Candidates shortlisted for this position will be required to complete an aptitude test.

Recommendations:
• Experience in closely liaising with, but preferably having worked for an academic institution;
• Extensive ICT project management experience;
• Cloud computing experience;
• Work experience of human resource, financial and student administration systems.
