Role details:
Reports to Manager: Microsoft. Test, implement, maintain, document and troubleshoot the Microsoft Messaging and collaboration environments. Provide project support, maintenance and enhancements of the messaging systems including Exchange, Outlook, Mobile devices (i.e. Nokia, HTC, etc.) and email archiving. Manage a multitude of assignments independently. Provide advice on technical architecture, design, security analysis and configuration of backup and recovery. Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support. Partake and implement projects.
Grade 12 or equivalent tertiary qualifications with international MCSE or MCSA plus 7 years extensive specialist experience in a messaging systems environment).
Expert knowledge:
Microsoft Exchange server 2003/2007 (to include monitoring, clustering, backup/restore, and attached storage)
Mail routing, gateways and messaging based communication
Outlook, Outlook Web Access (OWA), ActiveSync
Experience with high-availability design (failover systems and data replication)
Fax to e-mail and e-mail to fax solution
Operating systems: Windows server (NT – 2007) & workstation (Win 98 – Vista); TCP/IP, WINS, DNS and DHCP
Active Directory (extensive)
Patch release testing and updating
Hands on hardware / software testing and troubleshooting
Analytical skills
Technical writing skills.
Good working knowledge:
Industry best practices for e-mail privacy, security and regulatory compliance, routing, filtering, monitoring, storage, backup and disaster recovery
Anti-Virus software (Trend Micro)
Server hardware & software (HP/Compaq, IBM, NLB, Cluster, Terminal Services, Citrix)
Storage hardware & software (EMC Clariion, NAS, Navisphere Manager, SnapView)
BackOffice products - MS SMS, MS SQL, MS IIS, MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio.
Knowledge of the following areas of infrastructure development:
IT server infrastructure development tools & environment
Documenting IT server infrastructure
IT server infrastructure services and products.
IT server infrastructure processes and methods
Governance - IT
IT measurement and communication
IT server system policies, procedures and standards
IT server system security
Procurement policies and procedures
Quality management
Testing methods and protocols.
