PRINCIPALACCOUNTABILITIES
ProcessAlignment
General
Problem Resolution andTroubleshooting, 1st and 2nd line/Level
Installation, maintain and support of enterprise SANand backup/recovery environments.
Design, Implement and maintain complex enterprise storagearea networks and data backup and recovery systems primarily those from EMC andTivoli.
Provide 24x7 support and maintenance
Provide support & technical adviceon storage related matters
Respond to enquiries / queries from staff, administrators,service providers, site personnel and outside vendors and etc. to provide technical assistance andsupport
Implement and/or coordinate system updates and replacement of 'old'versions
Ensure SAN disk arrays and SAN networks are operatingoptimally
Manage the day to day operations of the SAN andBackups
Liaising with relevant 3rd parties and 3rd levelengineers towards the resolution of technical issues
Building & re-building storageenvironment
Update relevant software andfirmware.
Administration
Conduct Administration of SAN toensure that there enough capacity to meet current and future businessrequirements.
Provision of storage space based on server or applicationneeds.
Ensure that back-ups are performed in accordance to the requirements andschedules.
Ensure that restores are performed in accordance to therequirements.
Monitoring
Monitor SAN events & ensurecompliance with Security Policy
Monitor and Remediation of Backups and SANissues
Monitor Operational systems including SAN networks (Switches, HBAetc.)
Monitor and Troubleshoot storage related performance issues
Conductspotting of trends across regions and client base and feeding back observations and assessments tothe company’s management team
Maintain network operations, applications and operatingsystems.
Process any follow up action
Perform all call resolutions related toassigned areas
Develop standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for 1st and2nd level support
Ensure Compliance with all Operation policies andinstructions
Ensure Compliance with all service management system reporting and ticketupdate requirements
Monitor SAN controllers and ensure that they are operatingoptimally
Develop & maintain SAN and Backup support and relateddocumentation
Prepare technical reports on the operation ofsystems
Customer Service
Respond timeously to customerqueries and to provide feedback
Update customers on the progress of data updates both dailyand monthly.
Actively find ways to improve customer service
Provide customer serviceas per agreed SLA’s
Performance Contracts
Participatein annual contracting process, agree and sign required documentation
Participate inquarterly performance management process /reviews
SkillsDevelopment
Ensure learning solutions are identified, proposed and implementedaccording to on-going personal and team development plans.
Negotiate training anddevelopment requirements with manager

Education
Matric
Diploma or Degree in IT
MCSE/Linux certification
EMC certification
ITILFoundation certification
Experience & Skills
3 yearsSupport Experience
Knowledge of MS operating systems, Linux OS
KnowledgeTCP/IP protocol suite
MS Office Suite
Virtualization(VMware)
SAN (EMC,Brocade)
Tivoli TSM
Server hardware (HP)
Solid Windows operating system (OS)knowledge.
Solid knowledge on Windows processing hardware.
Solid Windows GUI andcommand line knowledge.
Understand Operator and/or Production Support and/or Applicationsupport roles.
