Solutions Architect Western CapeSouthern Suburbs A specialist financial services company, are currently seeking a SolutionsArchitect, the company was launched over 20 years ago. The successful candidate is will partner withbusiness analysts and engineers to define the technical requirements, principles and models thatgenerally guide all solution decisions for the ecosystem. They are responsible for analysing andtranslating business, information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint thatoutlines solutions that integrate across applications, systems and platforms to achieve businessobjectives. Solution Architects look across applications, and consider infrastructure, to developroadmaps that outline how solutions will be structured in the future. We are looking for someone whois has excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to lay audiences,and will need some experience of with working with board level stakeholders.   Description roleresponsibilities: Perspective: Technology Engineering: Strategic business acumen (understandbusiness requirements and strategy) Experiencing in assessing a broad range of information solutionsand products particularly document management, collaboration and content management. Technicalanalysis and design and Broad and deep technical knowledge Technical leadership (the trusted,technical advisor for assigned line of business, providing thought leadership and application oftechnology to business problems) Shapes the evolution of company’s products, Maps productrequirements and business problems to re-usable end-to-end technology solutions Uses methodologiesand frameworks (using best practices and common patterns, including database, component layers, userinterfaces, web services, and integration patterns) Software architect (must understand andcontribute to all levels of design needed for the solution (business, data, application, technology)Deep experience in developing enterprise solutions using all aspects of the .NET platform, opensource or Java (or any other environment), Web Services, multithreaded programming, designing andbuilding frameworks, enterprise patterns, SQL design and development, and database tuning Documentsintegration and solution designs and how they interact with the larger Enterprise Architecture andContributes to the organizational architecture capability. Skills and Experience
Education and skills: Minimum: Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, systemsanalysis or a related study Ideal: Post Graduate qualification in computer science or engineering,systems analysis, a related study or business related degree Formal qualification in EnterpriseArchitecture (e.g. TOGAF) Requirements: 5 – 7 years extensive experience in at least two ITdisciplines in a client/server or service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, includingtechnical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database managementor operations. 3 years’ experience in architecture methodologies and frameworks such as TOGAFor the equivalent and 5 – 7 years software development experience in Microsoft or Java or OpenSource 5 – 7 years’ experience in Proficiency in Design and modelling toolkits (Visio,Enterprise Architect) 5 – 7 years deep experience in developing enterprise solutions using allaspects of the .NET platform, open source or Java (or any other environment), Web Services,multithreaded programming, designing and building frameworks, enterprise patterns, SQL design anddevelopment, and database tuning 3 years working knowledge of infrastructure including servers,storage, firewalls, load balancers, etc. 3 years’ experience in the SDLC and 3 years’experience in Agile/Scrum methodology, overtime is expected from time to time Competencies (skillsand behavioural attributes)Skill: Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives ofsituations. Ability to translate business needs into integration and solution architecturerequirements. Ability to estimate the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems. Ability to quickly comprehendthe functions and capabilities of new technologies.
