They are looking for a Senior Platform and Network Administrator to join their dynamic Infrastructure and Shared Services team and play a key role in ensuring operational excellence in supporting a vast array of platforms. The role is based in South Africa. Responsibilities will include leading key IT projects in the design and execution of new Network and Infrastructure need; knowledge transfer to operations after designing new systems; providing level 3 support to the organisation; providing day-to-day support for platform and network operation requests; maintaining and supporting all network hardware, including switches, firewalls, and access points; installing, configuring and troubleshooting HP / Dell Servers, Windows Server (2008 – 2010), and VMWARE Platform; and continuously monitoring the capacity and performance of the company's IT resources network, servers, storage, etc. It will fall to you to perform thorough technical analysis of any incident on Microsoft, Linux, network infrastructure, and in-house systems and escalate/liaise with other teams/departments, when necessary, to resolve an incident and to analyse, recommend, and implement new technologies and improvements to infrastructure. You will need to communicate with efficiency and accuracy any progress and/or delays. You will be called on to provide after-hours on-call support and will need to be willing to travel to offices around the world for maintenance and installations when required. To apply you should have Matric coupled with a MCITP Qualification and 10+ years relevant working experience. A Computer Science Degree would be preferred. Your solid 10+ years’ experience should include strong knowledge in a networking environment (Windows 2003/2008/2012/2016 Server and Linux RHEL) with Active Directory in a multi-server environment, and in-depth knowledge of networking technologies including Cisco, Firewalls, Wireless APs, Layer 2-3 network equipment, DHCP, DNS, and LAN security procedures. You will need to be experienced in infrastructure support, design, migration and implementation of Microsoft technologies including Active Directory and have solid experience in virtualization using VMware platform and VMware vCenter. A working knowledge of application servers and their services (MS Exchange, IIS, Apache, Citrix, cPanel, etc.) is also required, as well as experience in PowerShell /Terraform Scripting. Knowledge of SolarWinds, or similar monitoring platforms will be a definite advantage. It will also be useful to have PowerBI / Power Automate experience. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills (fluent in English essential – French, Spanish or Portuguese an asset) and a strong customer and quality focus. This position would suit someone with a sense of initiative, resourcefulness, autonomy, and the ability to work efficiently; an organised individual with good time management skills; a team player with a great team spirit and someone with the ability to rapidly learn and evaluate new tools and technology when required.
