To ensure thestability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support coreorganizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizingall networked software and associated operating systems. The Systems Engineer will apply provencommunication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolveissues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. This individual will also mentorand provide guidance to the Junior Systems Engineer staff.

Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth andreliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
Work with team members, decision makers, and stakeholders todefine business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systemsissues.
 
Acquisition Deployment
Design and deploy new applications andenhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aidmanagement in making implementation decisions.
Conduct research onsoftware and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasingefforts.
Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsources, andcontractors to secure system-related products and services.
 
Operational Management
Gauge theeffectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving orfurther leveraging these systems.
Propose and create system designmodels, specifications, diagrams, and charts.
Design and performserver and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordancewith the company disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
Integrate servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and theirassociated software into enterprise systems.
Create a virtualisedenvironment, including the installation of hardware hosts (VM Ware), configuring virtual networkenvironment for all hosts, setting up storage or servers, setting up clients and create a backupsolution.
Ensure system connectivity of all servers, sharedsoftware, groupware, and other applications.
Create and maintaindocumentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes and servicerecords.
Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-housecomputing systems.
Monitor and test system performance; prepare anddeliver system performance statistics and reports.
Provideorientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
Provide guidance and assign tasks to Junior System Engineers.
Providing after-hours support when required
Performing any other tasks or projects as may be required from time totime
 
Knowledge and experience required:
 
Proven experience in overseeing the design,development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products.
Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, andgeneral software management best practices.
Ability to conductresearch into systems issues and products as required.
Ability tocommunicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressureenvironment.
Strong customer service orientation.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
 
Qualifications:
ITDiploma/Degree
At least 5 years experience at a senior level insupporting MS products and backup solutions.
Certified version ofMCSE and proficiency in relevant Microsoft tools
VMWare Certifiedand proven proficiency in virtual environment
Understanding networkarchitecture and security and its impact on systems.
