Role details:
The role manages the team, which safeguards IT systems and data by verifying and validating authorised users, authorising user access to IT systems and data, and restricting transactions (read, write, execute, delete) according to the users authorisation level and approved profile. The role is also responsible for conducting regular audits and recertification of user access and profiles, in line with Barclays Global Logical Access Standard. This standard also includes the control of Developer access to Production, Role based Access Control, Highly Privileged Access control, User Password and Authentication.

The role of system administrator requires specific knowledge and training of the supported applications. It is a mission critical role that requires high levels integrity and confidentiality. The System Administrator should have expert knowledge of the administration functions and fully understand the consequences of all administrative changes to application these include:
Own and administer super user profiles.
Data access and security requirements of the system.
Auditing and security requirements for all changes.
Be aware of components owners and mandate people who may authorise and request system changes.
Responsible for ensuring client satisfaction in every step of problem resolution
Problem resolution involves the gathering information, diagnosing the clients needs, conducting research to find.
Accountability: Manage team of Lan system administrators:
Develop high performing team by embedding sound performance plans for each team member.
Ensure team has the necessary skills and training plans to be able to deliver to the services offered.
Assign workload to the team of Lam system administrators to ensure delivery of objectives.
Accountability: Manage the risks associated with logical access controls and processes:
Ensure that processes, control requirements and risk management frameworks that have been designed for the area are understood by all members of the team.
For audit findings that have an impact on the area, work with the Head of the Department to understand what actions are required to close out findings, and implement required actions.
During scheduled audits and management assurance reviews, ensure that all information required by the auditors are provided timeously.
Complete required compliance and SOX attestations Log all Risk and Loss events as a result of error or fraud highlighted in the department. Ensure that the issues are thoroughly investigated and closed or escalated as per policy.
Ensure that team understands all compliance requirements and highlight gaps to the Head of the department.
Monitor compliance training undertaken by team members and ensure that they complete the required training within prescribed timelines.
Ensure that all regulatory requirements are adhered to.
Ensure that agreed policies, audit requirements and system security are not compromised.
Ensure all requests for change is duly authorised and an audit trail is kept of all change requests.
Accountability: Provide expert advice and support to team of Lan system administrators:
Support team by assisting them with queries and guidance on processes.
Perform mission critical administration functions on allocated systems.
Ensure a good understanding of all change requests before it is executed.
Support of application environment and assist end users with queries.
Stay abreast of changes to the application that could impact on the administrative task of creating & allocating users, access and profiles in the system and documentation thereof.
Participate in building the System Administrator role in Absa into a world class profession.
Education and Experience Required:
B-degree
Experience of one of the following: IT audit, IT risk and control, IT Security.
Experience in translating between business and IT terminology.
Demonstrable track record to resolve application and technical problems in a fast paced environment.
Knowledge & Skills: (Maximum of 6):
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to deliver high quality work to demanding stakeholders in some cases, within short timescales
Excellent organisational skills and time management
Quality conscious, thorough attention to detail
Experienced in working in pressurised environment
Role requires a high level of interpersonal skills demonstrated by good oral and written communications
