Job purpose:

Snr Technician, Maintenance: Data Centres Facilities, Data Centre Facilities Management, Data Centres, Shared Operations, GTI

Perform deploy and operate work that pertains to all engineering maintenance and support works in Data Centres Facilities Management (as specifically allocated by line management from time to time in order to achieve optimal work load distribution amongst role incumbents.)

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent is accountability for performance of all maintenance and support works in Data Centres Facilities Management as allocated and under supervision of the Engineer, Maintenance: Data Centres Facilities.

This encompasses maintenance and support works pertaining to:

24X365 uninterrupted ancillary services provisioning (premises, buildings, power, water, lighting, air conditioning, regulatory compliance).
Operational monitoring and maintenance (preventative and reactive), including coordinating and facilitating works performed by contractors.
Incidents and problem resolutions.
3rd party service/support/maintenance contractor’s onsite personnel co-ordination.
Maintaining ancillary services maintenance run books (maintenance manuals; including policies, processes, schedules and procedures), assist in drawing up of maintenance schedules and related works reporting and records.
Supervising maintenance and support works performance by onsite maintenance contractor personnel.
Support to Operational Controls processes (Audits, Risk and DR& BCM governance, business processes improvements, performance management, and finance and business management), supply of requested information and implementation of corrective actions as applicable.

Risk and DR & BCM score(s)
Audit score(s).
Customer satisfaction score(s)

Key performance metric targets (not necessary limited to the above only) would be continuously agreed with the line manager.

Qualifications:

National Senior Certificate
Certified electrician or similar recognised electro-mechanical trade certification.

Knowledge:

Good knowledge and understanding of data centres facilities engineering preventative maintenance and repair works.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Basic business writing and reporting skills.

Experience:

5-8 years’ experience in a technical hands-on preventative maintenance and repair role in complex facilities in a large enterprise.
Demonstrable track record.
Facilities maintenance processes and procedures.

Technical competencies:

Must have good understanding of preventative maintenance and repair work generally required in data centre facilities.
Mechanical /electrical repair skills

Problem solving:

The incumbent must be able identify maintenance problems and be able to communicate that clearly to other staff and line managers.

As a result of the dynamic nature of Group IT, the incumbent must be innovative and think out of the box so as to provide effective solutions to problems.
Planning
This requires both an operational planning mind-set as well as a strong execution focus.
This role spans multiple services and so requires a high degree of consultation and engagement in all related activities.

Decision making:

Liaison will take place across all levels and will include interfacing with senior managers across the bank.
Decisions are made rationally and professionally, with due regard for policies and standards and instructions from line management.
In many cases decisions will need to be made based on limited or unclear data. The incumbent will be expected to use experience, judgement in combination with instructions and guidance form line management to limit risk of poor decision making.
This role has firm-wide effect on infrastructure service delivery to LoB. As such, decisions made can be far reaching and would impact the financial position and/or reputation of the Bank.

Working conditions:

Normal office hours will be applicable to this position but overtime will be required from time to time.
Travel might be required from time to time
