Team Leader: ICT Applications Specialist Support

About the job:

The CSIR has a vacancy for a Team Leader: Applications Specialist Support in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Service Centre who will be responsible for managing Specialist Applications Support Services and the associated service lifecycle with an integrated application portfolio and architecture perspective. The incumbent will provide advisory and leadership services within the applications management discipline. The position is based in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:

- Review and report on service support provision Service Level Agreements (SLA) metrics to ensure availability and accessibility of ICT applications functionality in accordance with SLAs;
- Prepare periodic management information reports to ensure feedback and communication to stakeholders;
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and users for their portfolio ensuring that the voice of the customer is represented within ICT Services;
- Manage financial aspects of Specialist Applications Support operations and provide input into internal cost recovery mechanisms;
- Review applications management disciplines and emerging technologies and trends to inform improvement initiatives and overall enhanced application service support;
- Provide guidance and technical leadership related to the ICT applications portfolio in order to support and advance high caliber ICT staff;
- Participate as part of ICT Enterprise Business Applications team in the review and development of ICT standards and procedures and best practices;
- Facilitate the relationship between the other team leaders to actively manage incident, problem and change management processes;
- In partnership with other Team Leaders, oversee the following:
1. Adherence to acceptable and well embedded application development practices, methodologies, governance and delivery processes in order to enhance an established systems development framework;
2. Change management and associated release management approach and processes within a systems development & delivery framework as well as an overall application governance framework;
3. Release Management alongside or within programme or project delivery;
4. Daily operations of applications specialist support team & change request activities;
5. Proper resource allocation to ensure applications availability and accessibility in accordance with SLAs.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

- A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following, Information Technology Information/Computer Science, Informatics, Information Systems or related fields with at least five years relevant IT application management experience;
- In depth technical knowledge of at least three ICT application disciplines one of which must be application software process management;
- Advanced technical knowledge of a number of related ICT infrastructure management disciplines;
- Peer recognition/acknowledgement for at least two ICT application management disciplines;
- Solid experience, knowledge of service management, associated methodologies, frameworks and application thereof;
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes, process control and enhancement;
- Management Information System (MIS) skills;
- Financial management, budgeting and reporting skills;
- People management and leadership skills;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
