MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE INCUMBENT
Co-ordinate Cost and Management Accounting function of Company and its business units to ensure the integration and availability of information across the group according to business requirements and sound financial practice.
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
Cost and Management Accounting
- Assist General Managers with the day to day activities of the business unit accounting function and provide financial and commercial support and advice.
- Oversee and prepare weekly management accounts incorporating sales, cost of sales and inventory according to the organisational accounting standards and sound financial practice.
- Gross profit margin reconciliation - enhance reporting structure with margin information by product and variance analysis.
- Calculation of daily production yield and investigate where required.
- Ensure the implementation and adherence to controls across the business functions and units of Company according to group policies, PFMA legislation and sound business practices. This includes adherence to correct cut-off procedures.
- Prepare weekly and monthly profit forecasts by interpreting the performance, movements and variances against the previous week, forecasts and budget.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and measure against subsequent performance.
- Product costing - review and validate product costing for new menus and products.
- Negotiate pricing directly with customers for approval by the CFO and CEO.
- Meet all customer requirements and requests in terms of area of responsibility.
- Preparation of financial information required for tender documents providing support and information to the GM: Commercial in this regard.
- Assist the management team to develop and evaluate profit improvement plans (PIP) by measuring actual performance against target to identify and address underperformers.
- Assist in evaluating new PIP plans including the implementation there-of.
- Assist the planning function with production planning to ensure that systems are comparable, stock levels, usage and yields are according to the production plan.
- Approve the procurement of non-food purchase orders and contracts according to organisational procedure delegation of authority.
- Project manage and implement the full costing function on SAP. Ensure a smooth migration from the existing Excel spread sheets.
- Assist the finance department with internal and external audits and resolve queries with regards to audit query resolution.
- Support to Cross Functional Sourcing Teams (CFST's).
- Ensure business unit compliance to all policies and procedures and appropriate legislation.
- Assist in the preparation of capital expenditure applications including the validation of costs and benefits. Manage the subsequent expenditure against budget and perform a post implementation review as required.
- Manage resource allocation to ensure effective staffing levels and utilisation according to organisational needs.
- Assist General Managers with their financial key performance areas by monitoring adherence to performance targets.
- Take appropriate ER action to correct non-performance to ensure the attainment of set objectives.
- Prepare career development plans, establish appraisal progress reviews and provide training and coaching to develop subordinates to their full potential. - Ensure the effective implementation and monitoring of SHEQ and HACCP related programs in the department.
- Provide financial information to internal and external stakeholders according to organisational and legislative requirements.
Financial Management
- Analyse the area's financial needs to ensure effective budgeting according to functional objectives.
- Control expenditure according to budget and report deviations according to financial procedures.
People Management
- Manage resource allocation to ensure effective staffing levels and utilisation according to organisational needs
- Manages subordinates and assist unit managers with their financial key performance areas by setting and monitoring adherence to performance targets
- Take appropriate ER action to correct non-performance to ensure the attainment of set objectives.
- Prepares career development plans, appraises progress and provides training and coaching to develop subordinates to their full potential.
SHEQ
- Adhere to all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety, Security and Food Safety Management System guidelines and operational policies and procedures.
Stakeholder Engagement
Manages external service providers and clients by co-ordinating the implementation of projects and service level agreements.
Education Level: (minimum)
Financial diploma/degree
Minimum 3 - 5 years cost accounting experience
Training and Experience:
- SAP PP, MM and SD module advanced experience
- Advanced Excel
- Microsoft Office suite
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving skills, team-leadership and decision-making
Formal presentation skills, persuasiveness, adaptability
