Our client in the Telecomms sector needs a senior manager to manage SA insurance and enterprise risks process, identify the risk and insurance exposures, assess impact to SA, report to relevant internal structures and lead business in developing mitigating controls.

Key tasks:

Planning
• Align insurance and enterprise risk targets to business strategy
• Develop annual and medium term insurance and risk plan
• Review, benchmark and implement insurance and risk best practices to enhance business effectiveness and efficiencies
• Review and update insurance and risk management policies, processes and procedures in line with Group

Business Risk Management
• Plan and implement cross-functional insurance and risk assessments and recommend holistic business solutions
• Consider internal and external factors to create competitive advantage
• Manage resources (people, finances and deliverables), taking local conditions into considerations

Implementation
• Directs, and coordinates insurance and risk management plans
• Perform business wide risk reviews in line with approved methodologies
• Ensure the ongoing implementation of Combined Assurance within SA
• Lead and manage the insurance renewal process and negotiations
• Prepare and analyse insurance reports to provide advice to portfolio-owners on control enhancements and strategies.
• Monitor the implementation of mitigating actions and Insurers recommendations
• Ensure the implementation of insurance risk management and loss recovery guidelines
• Provide input into the insured and uninsured risks of the company
• Utilise Enterprise Risk Management system (tool) effectively.

Reporting
• Timeously prepare and submit risk and insurance reports for relevant stakeholders and business structures.
• Provide input combined reporting on a timeous basis

Training and Support
• Provide risk and insurance training and awareness to business
• Develop and implement training plan for team member(s)

Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Complexity:
• Promote risk management competence throughout the organisation
• Market and create buy-in for Business Risk
Management (BRM) function within the organisation
• Lead, influence, coach, educate and guide direct and indirect reports to ensure ownership and implementation of risk management strategies
• Build professionalism, loyalty and commitment to the organisation
• Exercise leadership style that is adaptable to different situations
• Live the Brand

Role Complexity:
• Ad hoc cross-functional project involvement and related risk and insurance requests.
• Create buy-in of combined assurance and embed risk and insurance culture within business
• Integrate the inputs of various stakeholders(Group Business Risk Management, SA functions, Insurance Brokers e.t.c.) into risk and insurance strategies


Minimum Requirements-

Education:
• 3 year Bachelor’s Degree/ diploma in Insurance, Business, Risk Management or related areas
• Insurance Certification appropriate to SA needs will be added advantage: for example Member of Insurance Institute (Associate),
• Risk Management Certification appropriate to SA needs will be added advantage: for example IRMSA Membership,

Experience:
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in supervising/managing others.
• 3-5 years’ experience in implementing insurance and risk management
• At least 6 years work experience in assurance and related areas comprising (risk identification, assessment, mitigation and reporting)
• Experience in defining, implementing and enforcing risk-based standards,
• Proven leadership and relationship management capabilities, with experience with internal stakeholders — functional heads , as well as external parties such as business partners and third-party service providers
• Experience leading and managing high-performance multidisciplinary workgroups or teams to meet goals across multiple projects
• Extensive experience in leading and managing groups of self-directed professionals
