PURPOSE:

Responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of database environments as well as the development of scripts for standard and non-standard database data interchange.
MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12
• MCDBA Certification
• ITIL Certification is recommended
• Bachelor’s degree in IT is recommended
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in database programming- T-SQL
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Database design, development, implementation and configuration
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in SQL Server maintenance and optimization
• Minimum 3 years’ experiences in Server Reporting Services
• Experience in Data cubes and warehousing using SQL Server is recommended

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• System Analysis Life Cycle process knowledge
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to deal with complex situations and work in a dynamic environment
• Code 8 driver’s license
• Detail orientated

JOB OUTPUTS:

• Database design and provide assistance with the development and implementation of the project plan
• Guide database implementation and provide user training
• Conduct SQL Server learning sessions for application developers and advise developers on the most efficient database and SQL synax designs
• Maintain database performance and plan and execute database testing
• Direct the maintenance and installation of new database software
• Ensure the safety, integrity, backup and recovery of database files
• Provide support to business on database performance and resolve queries timely and accurately
• Implement preventative measures to ensure maximum available up time for SQL Servers
