Core Description

Provide Strategic Leadership and Management of their specific product portfolio and associated team of product managers. Responsible for helping Telkom consumer and small business to meet the mobile business plan targets by being accountable for the overall target for their product portfolio. Responsible to create the portfolio strategy and to develop a short, medium and long-term product roadmap containing a range of mobile specific products, services, solutions and capabilities to meet the strategic objectives. Working closely with key stakeholders such as MI, Sales, Technical, Network, Finance, Marketing and CVM to develop product strategies which meet customers' requirements across different market segments. Define the strategic product portfolio direction and objectives to ensure execution of the business strategy and develop and manage the Product strategy and roadmaps and alignment across business units.
Responsible for profitability of products in the portfolio and maintain close relationships with the market and stakeholders for awareness of market needs. This includes identification of appropriate markets and development of effective marketing strategies and tactics for reaching these strategies.
Responsible for the financial and market share performance of the specific product portfolio through the effective and efficient management of the elements of the marketing mix i.e. product, price, promotion, place and people. Responsible for Product Life Cycle (PLCM) from concept to retirement stage. Ongoing analysis and monitoring of the portfolio performance and identify performance gaps. Develop corrective action plans and implement corrective action plan. Execute the relevant strategy via a comprehensively mapped delivery plan and stakeholder mapping process, ensuring quality and timeous delivery of objectives. Tasks include, but are not limited to targeting, competitive positioning, analysis of external environment, aligning with technology, developing future product / market roadmaps. Management of a team of specialist product managers. Responsible to Set and Manage Individual (Specialist: Segment Product Managers) and Team performance standards, operational objectives, delivery and targets in the portfolio.

Required Certification None.

Qualifications Relevant 3-year Degree/ Diploma (at least NQF level 6). Preferable Commerce, Marketing, Project Management or Sales.
Experience 7 Years of relevant experience in Product Development / Management or related role within ICT and Telecoms, and 2 years at Supervisory level.
Special Requirements Valid driver’s license
Willingness to travel – local and international,
Willingness to work extended hours – no flexi hours.
Business Acumen: High-energy, accountable and forward- looking.

Mobile work experience as well as mobile industry experience will be a deciding factor.
